I want to know is there any danger to pressure washing vinyl siding to the house's structure.
Answer
i have been pressure washing my home for 12 yrs, this is my opinion for a larger home like bigger than 2600 sq ft.,, although all of the comments were correct about the water getting underneath the siding an into the structure. it ill not be an outstanding amount which on a good day will probably dry within an hour of spraying. ok with that said this is what i recommend. wet the entire surface area of the vinyl with water, and with a pump sprayer, mix you a solution of water and simple green, if its really dirty go with a stronger mixture or full concentrate, its not gonna hurt it a bit. spray it on let it soak for a few minutes, and wash it off with the pressure washer. now on the north end of your home, most will collect some algae and mite need more convincing, so if this is a problem an the simple green doesn't take it off, then a mild household bleach solution will probably be your best bet to get that off. let it soak a few minutes also, oh and don't where any decent clothes you do not want to ruin while spraying, they will fade and leave bleached spots if you get it on you...lol, oh yea and have some splash proof goggles on while spraying any mixture from your sprayer, don't need that stuff in your eyes...ok so i want to add..if you use a strong bleach solution, you make fade your vinyl in time.
2500 psi pressure washer...anymore pressure than this may cause vinyl damage if you put the tip too close
2-gallon sprayer
always try to spray your vinyl from the top down, that is how its designed to shield the water in the first place, although you cant do this in every application, spraying from the bottom up is fine as well don't worry it will dry out...now you may need to scrub a few stubborn areas if your home is really dirty, but if you let the simple green soak enough you may not require any scrubbing.
if your home is not that large, you may consider the simple green and a soft bristle brush and just the water hose will be sufficient. it may take you alot longer, but any case, just make sure you wet your vinyl before spraying any cleaning solution on it.
and also do not consider mixing any other cleaning solutions with the bleach.....good luck!

What is the minimum PSI I should look for in a pressure washer when using to strip paint from a wood fence?
theplaneti
I have to go cheap on this so it looks like i'm going to be getting an a electric one. I saw a Black and Decker one that said 1600psi but a review said it normally is about 1250psi and not too good at removing paint. I have seen several Karthers at advertised 1400psi without that review. I also saw a 1500psi but forgot the brand name of it.
Answer
2500 PSI should do it, be extreamly careful not to gouge or cut the wood with the spray. Also you will need to let the wood dry for at least a week , of hot dry weather, so the paint will not peel off later. Do not be disapionted if you can't remove all of the paint, you will need to scrape and sand prior to priming. Good Luck!
