The cons of a pressure washer?

pressure washer nozzle size on Pressure Washer Lance Nozzle Jet 1/4
pressure washer nozzle size image

Heather

Sand blaster/pressure washer. Besides the price?
Perhaps damage? Thanks!

Answer
Depending on the tip size and how close it is to the surface, it can peel paint, leave dark streaks on bare wood like a deck, and even peel the skin off your hand! So just keep the nozzle about a foot away from the surface and sweep back and forth evenly to get even cleaning that doesn't damage it.

A friends pressure washer wouldn't start when he bought it. There were 2 places where you had to add oil. He only filled one and didn't notice the other. I found the other and we filled it and the thing started right up. Look for a 2nd oil fill.

information on silkscreening?

pressure washer floor scrubber on ... cleaners carpet cleaners floor buffers floor sweepers scrubber driers

C

I have a friend who owns a t shirt business and is interested in getting started with silkscreening. I went to school for graphics like 8 yrs ago and did some silkscreening but it was complicated. I was wondering if there is any equiptment out there for a small business that would be affordable and easy to do. Or is there any special paper you can buy for the printer to make a screen? We're only looking to do one color printing. Any info would be great! thanks

Answer
When I did screen printing, we didn't use paper stencils, instead it was a photo-sensitive emulsion. It's probably a little more expensive, but the results are drastically better. Unfortuantely, it also requires a sort-of dark room and a light table. What you have is an emulsion that is squeegeied onto the screen in a thin even layer (applied to both sides). It is light-sensitive, so as soon as it has been applied (it can be out in the light safely for 5-10 minutes while it is applied), let it dry (or blow dry) in a light-free room (about 45 mins to an hour air dried).

Design your print pattern any way you wish, but the final product needs to be black print on white paper or transparency. The black print should be the art you want printed, not the negative.

This is where the light tray comes in(i would suggest finding some professional consult on it's construction), probably the most expensive thing. Put your artwork down first, then the emulisfied screen over it (screen side down). Inside the frame, lay something down that will both cover the backside of the screen, and weigh it down (or both separately). expose it to the light for about 1/2 hour if the art is on paper, 15 mins if on transparency.

After that 1/2 hour is up, spray the screen with a garden hose or pressure washer (on LOW). The emulsion behind your black artwork should flush out, leaving you with a perfect stencil.

(to wash the screen completely, you'll need to buy emulsion remover as well, and will most likely need to be scrubbed out, and pressure washed).

Pro printers use these kinds of screens over paper stencils. Also, if you're printing t-shirts, or other washables, make sure you specifically buy inks made for cloth.

so yeah, costs besides paper and tshirts will be:

Screens (10 to 60 dollars)
emulsion: about 18 dollars, good for 3 to 4 screens. only efffective a month after opening.
Emulsion remover: about 15
Scrubbers (the same ones you'd use for floor washing)

The Pressure washer, and accompanying facility (or maybe outdoors) for washing, as well as the light table, and making a room lightproof will be your biggest costs to start.

Hope this helps...

What are good hose replacement for AR 383 pressure washer?

Mr. Aztec

I have a AR 383 (blue clean) pressure washer which it came with a detergent bottle (which I find it useless). I want to replace the hose and as upgrade the gun with the wands. Anyone recommends me a good pressure gun to buy where I can attach a foam cannon and as well with good wands. Also I would like to replace the hose in order to make it compatible with the pressure gun.

Answer
The AR Blue Clean line uses proprietary connections so that you cannot use standard hoses and guns as replacements. This is like what Apple does with the iPhone. Fortunately, there are some adapters out there. Home Depot sells one, I'll put the link in my sources below. With this you could now attach standard hoses and guns/accessories. BE makes good guns and foam cannons, and goodyear makes good hoses. There are many other quality guns and hoses out there as well, BE's are just easier to find than some of the others.

What size pressure washer is good for cleaning a deck?

BigRed

Hi i am looking at buying a pressure washer to clean my deck and to clean my house i found a 2600psi for $299 and a 3000psi for $399 both have a Honda motor. I was planing on using it to clean a couple other houses and decks is it better to get the bigger one or should i stick with the 2600psi?

Answer
The cleaning power is roughly proportional to the PSI rating multiplied by the GPM. While the higher pressure might not be necessary for the tasks you are considering, the added cleaning power means you'll get the job done faster with the more expensive unit. Keep in mind that you can always add distance to reduce pressure (back away from the surface), but you can't add pressure that the unit doesn't produce.

I have tried to use an old 1500 psi unit that I already had to clean a concrete driveway, but just purchased the 3000 psi machine from a home store, and the difference is amazing. My evaluation was that the extra $100 above the 2600 psi unit was well worth the hours saved. And the Honda engine gets very good reviews from most of what I've read.

I would suggest also getting the surface cleaning attachment, particularly for your wood deck. It's not really powerful enough for a really dirty concrete drive, but would surmise that it is sufficient for the wood (you don't want that high of pressure for the wood). For cleaning concrete surfaces, I highly recommend the Turbo nozzle; it takes the 0 deg pattern and spins it in a 15-25 deg (or so) pattern so that you get the dislodging pressure of the 0 degree, but in a pattern size that allows efficient cleaning.

This has a lot of good reviews. Does anybody think this could work for my needs?

If not anybody recommend a power washer for under $300?
Prefer Electric but could do gas if there was a good deal

Thanks in advance for any help

Answer
The specs show 1,700PSI and comes with 5 spray tips. You start with a lower PSI (say 500) with a medium tip and see how it cleans the small patio. If it is satisfactory , no more experimentation. The wider the tip, the more PSI you can use.

For vinyl walls, use the widest tip and start with a small PSI. The wide tip cleans more area. Start at 500 PSI and increase if necessary.

I am sending 3000 psi through pipe and need to break and obtain differnt psi strength at different point because I need to test my device in different psi level. Please help me to do so. Do I need to buy differnt psi checking meter or I can use valves at different check point. Kindly help me giving easy way

Answer
Since a pressure washer uses a positive displacement pump you will need to keep a flow of water through the pump.

This is done by installing a recirculating relief valve from the discharge to the inlet side of the pump.

When pressure rises above a preset limit the relief valve opens and returns some of the high pressure water back to the inlet, recirculating.

Most pressure washers come with such a pressure setting device already installed. You either need to adjust it OR it may be damaged and stuck closed.

You may also add a relief valve to the inlet of your device to protect it from over pressure and to allso testing at different pressures. Just let this valve blow off to the ground or a drain...

How many hours can you use a pressure washer before you need to change the oil?

Kevin

I Have a 4 year old Troy-Bilt 4.5HP 2200 Psi Pressure Washer. ive recently bored out the Inflow/outflow of the pump increasing the water flow, put a high performance spark plug and put bigger jets on the carburetor. and i began using 93 octane Shell V-power Nitrogen enriched fuel. My pressure washer cleans better then my friends 2800 Psi washer. but my question is how many hours can i go until i need to change my oil, im curious because of my recent modifications im sure the motor is harder on oil.

Answer
Oil does not lose its properties, just gets dirty. That is main reason for filter on a car. Hope this helps.

Any help? The pressure wand sprays water out, but water then starts to leak out of the part where the handle connects to the wand shaft. Please help!
And yes, i did go to the website and searches for it, but noting came up.

Answer
I work on pressure washers for a living and see this daily! It's just an "O-Ring" has split and is allowing water to leak out. Find the o-ring that isn't an "O" but more of a "C" and replace it, problem solved! Sears has o-ring kits in the stores with several sizes of o-rings in it. Use the instructions included to select the right ring!

The Washerman, Dog and Donkey ?

Well this is kinda serious joke.... star me if you liked

Good story with old versionâ¦

There was once a washer man who had a donkey and a dog.

One night when the whole world was sleeping, a thief broke into the house, the washer man was fast asleep but the donkey and the dog were awake.

The dog decided not to bark since the master did not take good care of him and wanted to teach him a lesson.

The donkey got worried and said to the dog that if he doesn't bark, the donkey will have to do something himself. The dog did not change his mind and the donkey started braying loudly.

Hearing the donkey bray, the thief ran away, the master woke up and started beating the donkey for braying in the middle of the night for no reason.

Moral of the story " One must not engage in duties other than his own"
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
Now take a new look at the same storyâ¦

The washer man was a well educated man from a premier management institute.

He had the fundas of looking at the bigger picture and thinking out of the box. He was convinced that there must be some reason for the donkey to bray in the night.

He walked outside a little and did some fact finding, applied a bottom up approach, figured out from the ground realities that there was a thief who broke in and the donkey only wanted to alert him about it.

Looking at the donkey's extra initiative and going beyond the call of the duty, he rewarded him with lot of hay and other perks and became his favorite pet.

The dog's life didn't change much, except that now the donkey was more motivated in doing the dogs duties as well. In the annual appraisal the dog managed a " meets requirement" Soon the dog realized that the donkey is taking care of his duties and he can enjoy his life sleeping and lazing around.

The donkey was rated as "star performer". The donkey had to live up to his already high performance standards. Soon he was over burdened with work and always under pressure and now is looking for a job rotationâ¦

If you have worked in a corporate environment, I am sure you have guessed the characters of the new story.

How much weight will I lose per week?

pressure washer zone on Pressure Washers Edmonton Alberta | Pressure Washer Suppliers

panda_viol

I weigh 190 pounds and am 5ft 5in. I'm 13 years old. I eat 1200 per day and do chores like washing dishes and vacuuming. If you could give me some tips on losing weight that would be helpful! :D

Answer
Chores DO count for calorie expenditures as they are still physical activities.
You can count 2.16/min when washing dishes (based on 130/hour) and 3.3/min when vacuuming (based on 198/hour). Time yourself and tally your calories expenditure so you can meet your weekly quota.

Do the dishes every day, like 15 minutes (32) and at the end of the week that would be about 227 calories that you would not have to exercise for (7 miles biking). You could bike a mile every day...or do the dishes. Or do both and lose weight faster!

If I spend half an hour vacuuming my house, I will surely tally those 99 calories in my weekly exercise expenditure requirement journal (3 miles biking).
I wash my windows (2.83/min), rake my leaves (4.06/min), use a blower to clean up my driveways and walkways (2.80/min), pressure wash the outside of my house (1.36/min) and clean up my yard (2.75/min) and surely time myself and if I work hours doing chores around the house, I will surely not need to âexerciseâ that day.
If I spend 4 hours pressure washing my deck, walkways, driveways, outside walls, shoes, inside and out (stinky, smelly, dirty running shoes used by extremely fit people will smell like nothing and look like new after my water pressure washer deals with those), garbage cans...I will tally those 326 calories I just burned and wonât have to exercise.

I have to wear my heart monitor when raking leaves otherwise I would get out of breath and exhausted because I would go above my THR zone. Raking my leaves is more demanding (on my heart) than jogging even if I would burn more calories while jogging.

You do not eat enough. Youâre not a 60 years old, 5'5 and 120lbs woman with a 1,200 calories BMR.
Youâre younger and bigger so you need more calories.
Your BMR is 1,724 calories (13 year old female, 5â5 and 190lbs).

You should eat enough calories to cover your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) or your body will adapt to a low caloric intake and lower your metabolism, making it very hard for you to use your body fat. And then, as soon as you would eventually start eating normally again, you would make body fat very easily, because you would have a lower metabolism and therefore regain all the weight you lost and keep going up, unless you exercise A LOT. Also, as youâre younger than 21, you need to eat more when having a growth spurt so you donât stunt your growth (you get ravenous).

Womenâs BMR:
655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - minus (4.7 x age in years)

You might already have a lower BMR if your body adapted to a lower caloric intake (takes about 3 months eating under your BMR). You need to find out if you have a lower adjusted BMR as you would gain weight on a normal BMR. Itâs what you need to eat to maintain your weight without exercising. If you exercise, you can still find out your BMR by adjusting for calorie expenditure through exercising with calorie intake...like if you exercise for 250 calories, then you would have to eat 1,974 calories (1,724 + 250) to see if youâre maintaining your weight. Of course, do not force yourself to eat more, those are daily average numbers on a weekly or monthly basis (keep a tally). Usually, if you exercise, you get hungry (low blood sugar) and need an extra snack...which you can have if youâre testing your BMR and are trying to maintain your weight. If you gain weight eating 1,724 calories and more when exercising, you need to eat less and less until you can maintain your weight...then youâll know what your lower adjusted BMR is. Then DO NOT eat under that or it will even get lower. Your body, that marvelous adaptable system, will assume that you have no access to food and will lower your metabolism. Your body is very smart, doing gazillion of operations but still has no idea about beauty criteria and that you have easy access to food, unlike 2 billions of people on our planet who donât have enough food and are happy with very low metabolisms that help them not starve so fast.

Eat enough to cover your BMR or your adjusted lower BMR. Be active (exercise and do chores) for 3,500 calories for each pound of body fat you wish to lose, taking your time (the slower the weight loss rate, the better your chance to keep it off). Half a pound of body fat loss is a perfect weekly goalâ¦1,750 calories of exercising, like 350 calories (one hour) for 5 days a week with 2 rest days. It's hard to exercise more than an hour when you cannot eat for it, since you only eat just enough to cover your BMR because you want to use your body fat.

Why don't sedans have a rear windshield wiper?

Johnny

I notice only minivans, SUV's, station wagons, and hatchbacks have rear windshield wipers, while sedans don't. Why? The snow and rain probably actually accumulates on a sedan's rear windshield because it's almost horizontal, so why don't they have a wiper? What is the need to have them on other types of cars anyway, if sedans don't?

Also, I know some sports cars like toyota Celica and the acura one have a rear windshield wiper, but the majority of sedans don't.

Answer
The reason sedan don't have rear wipers is because of aerodynamics.

The rear windows, which is like mostly vertical, doesn't get that much rain, because you're driving FORWARD. Very little water actually land on rear window. There's also rain-run-off channels on the roof of the car to "guide" the water away from the top of the roof, then out to the sides. The roof is actually curved, like the road. So most water don't even runoff to the rear windows.

And another factor is the trunk itself, which helps move air along and not circling around the rear window, trapping dirt and rain. Air flows past the roof and flies for a bit then drops onto the trunk. There's a bit of a "vacuum" near the rear window, but not enough.

Hatchbacks, with sharply raked windows, have much bigger surface area so rain can drop onto the rear window itself. There is also no 'trunk' to guide the airflow. All of the air flows right at the surface of the window, so it does need rear wipers.

SUVs/wagons with window right at the rear has nearly vertical windows, but not the trunk to guide the airflow. It has a low-pressure zone right in that area when it's moving at speed, which will "suck in" water and dirt and thus make the window very dirty. Wiper's not for the rain, but rather for the dirt (so it also has washer nozzles)

Using a Hot Water Pressure Washer to get ice off of roof of house?

Minn_Wild

With winter coming up here in Minnesota, I was wondering how much it normal cost for someone to come out and get a roof cleaned off for a normal rambler with a Hot Water Pressure Washer?

Thanks for your time

Answer
I doubt you'll find any body reputable to do it.

It will cause more ice growth when the water freezes.

It could blow holes or find leaks in your roof.

The best answer is electric roof defrosters. You can also get electric defrosters for your gutters to melt the ice in them too.

Both are available at major home improvement places like Home Depot and Lowe's.

They are asy to install and have plug into extension cords. They turn on automatically when the temperature drops beyond a certain point. The last one I saw in an ad was set to trun on when it drops below 35 degreess fahrenheit.

Motor 1 is the Honda 340GX commonly used on pressure washers. (4 stroke)
Engine Type: Air-cooled 4-stroke OHV
Bore x Stroke: 88 X 64 mm
Displacement: 389 cm3
Net Power Output* 10.7 HP (8.0 kW) @ 3,600 rpm
Net Torque 19.5 lb-ft (26.4 Nm) @ 2,500 rpm

Compression Ratio: 8.2:1

Motor 2 is the 85 Honda Odyssey motor (2 Stroke)
Engine:
Bore: 80 mm (3.1 in), 78.5 mm (3.09 in) after recall[5]
Stroke: 68 mm (2.7 in)
Displacement: 342 cc (20.9 cu in), 329 cc (20.1 cu in) after recall
Compression ratio: 6.7:1
Carburetor: 32 mm (1.26 in)-throat Keihin

Answer
That Odyssey engine is almost an antique, probably worth more to someone restoring one rather than someone trying to build a go kart, they had some problems and parts are hard to find, the 340 gx on the other hand might not be as fast out of the box but there are performance parts in the karting world that would blow your mind, plus there plentiful and relatively cheap, in either case you will need to know how to work on engines, repairing and finding parts for the 2 stroke of modifying the 4 stroke, the 4 stroke will have a better more even power band and torque, where as the 2 stroke will be faster and make more HP as long as you keep the RPM up, lose that and you lose the HP and torque, as in stalled on the side of a hill, the 4 stroke will have more grunt but not the top speed so to say, if your looking at the stupid fast 2 stroke engines I'd ditch the Odyssey idea and start looking at the multi cylinder snowmobile engines like Rotax, Bombardier, Yamaha or the likes.

Answer
You may be able to cut out the small section with the hole and splice the hose back together with a brass coupling piece, or several eauipment rental stores can install a hydraulic fitting for you to repair the hose. You might be approaching the cost of a new hose with the cost required to make any repairs, so you'll have to decide if it's worth the trouble.

I have been chipping for a week at the loose paint. About half of the house paint is painted on pretty solid.
Sandblasting, i am told, is too hard, messy to do.
A pressure washer, about 3500 psi, is another way but I have never done that.
Is there any chemical to put on the paint that will allow the paint to come off?

Answer
The only sure fire way that I'm aware of you already mentioned...sandblasting. And even then I've heard that it will not get all of the paint out of the little nooks and crannies of the brick. You would think that in this day and age that someone would have invented a chemical that would peel the paint off of brick, so I did a search and found the link bellow. It looks like it's a question and answer forum, and a couple people mentioned 2 different products that worked for them. Both said both products take time, but they will work.

What PSI to pressure wash red brick patio?

greglovern

We have a patio made from standard red bricks. Over the years it has become very dirty and doesn't come clean by squirting water on it from the garden hose.

I'm considering buying an inexpensive pressure washer. What PSI would I need for this job?

Answer
Another option would be to hire a mobile pressure washing company to clean it for you. Professionals should have years of experience and top of the line equipment that can get the job right in a fraction of the time it would take you. Our machines are big industrial units that use up to 300°F HOT water and steam at 3500 psi to clean grime, grease, spills, dirt, etc. from just about any surface. Cold water machines force you to use higher pressure and get closer with the wand, which can result in pitting out your bricks and leaving wand marks or "snail trails" if you use a 0° tip.

If you decide to go this route, get a couple estimates from a few local pressure washers and make sure they are going to use heat and have years of experience. The cost is probably worth it to save you the time and energy of buying/renting and then doing the job yourself. Most companies would probably give you a discounted rate if you agree to have it cleaned monthly, quarterly, or annually.

what is the most efficient a gas or a electric power washer

Answer
The top five name brand pressure washers are: Karcher, Troy-Bilt, Campbell, Craftsman, and Briggs & Stratton.

**The top electric pressure washer offered by Karcher is the 1500 psi, 1.3 gpm.

**Troy-Bilt only manufactures gas powered power washers. The smallest offered is the 2200 max psi, 2.2 gpm pressure washer.

**Campbell Hausfeld present both the gas and electric powered pressure washers. The topmost gas powered pressure washer is the 2000 psi washer.

**Craftsman is making some pretty good pressure washers these days. They also offer both gas and electric washers. First up we have the 1800 psi, 1.6 gpm electric pressure washer.

**Briggs & Stratton are renowned for their consumer, prosumer and professional pressure washers. Briggs & Stratton only offer gas powered pressure washers. The number one on the list is the 2050 psi, 1.9 gpm.

Which power washer is better?

I'm getting a power washer for my brother as a honey do gift. It's for him to wash vehicles, 4wheelers and the house. Would like to stay below $300, I found these two that i'm interested in. Has anyone had any problems with these models or have any other suggestions. Karcher Electric Pressure Washer â 2000 PSI, 1.4 GPM and Stanley 1600 PSI Electric Pressure Washer , 2200 Peak PSI.

Thanks

Answer
I'd go with the Karcher. They've been making pressure washers for sometime and should put out a pretty good product. Keep the receipt and if you don't like it, take it back.

That pressure rating will do fine on vehicles but if he's got a two story house, it seems none of them really have a lot of oomph to reach the eves without getting on a ladder which is a somewhat dangerous trick without some assistance.

And you have to be very careful with the electric ones. They are an electric appliance and water and electricity do not play well together.

What PSI pressure washer do I need to strip the paint off of a picket fence?

bangert_to

The paint is very chipped and can flake off by just touching it!

Answer
hey tony...

a small pressure washer capable of delivering 15-1800 pounds should be plenty - tip size is important also when pressure washing. the typical tip sizes are 40,25,15 & 0 degree tips...a 40 degree tip is similar in size to those used in self serve car washes - and that may be plenty for removing loose flaking paint. a 25 degree tip will put a little more force to the more stubborn areas without much fear of damaging the wood. a 15 degree tip is your chisel tip and should only be used on very difficult areas where paint is heaviest and adhering the tightest. a 0 degree tip, or an oscillating 0 degree tip, (or bullet point) should never be used on wood - it will damage the wood quickly.

if you're renting or buying a pressure washer for your job, the gpm is as important as the psi - a smaller, gas powered homeowner type of pressure washer may deliver 2-3 gallons of water per minute at 1500 pounds of pressure while a contractors model may deliver 7-8 gallons per minute at the same pressure (the homeowner electric models deliver approximately 1/2 - 1 gallon per minute and should probably be used only for car washes and light cleaning)...for the job you've described, the gas powered homeowner unit will work fine...

if you've never power washed before, it is a great way to prep a surface prior to painting or staining and will cut the prep time down considerably (and besides, they're kinda fun to operate)...if you use latex (acrylic) paint or stain as a finish, you'll need to wait only a day or so of warm weather before painting. and while pressure washing, be sure to wear rain gear and boots 'cause you will get wet...

good luck on your project and check out my previous post on how to finish wood fences.

i live in detroit michigan. i need some aluminum tubing i want to make a 16 ft wand for my pressure washer?

i bought some tubing from a hardware store but it burst what kind of tubing do i need ? thickness of wall do i need? would stainless steel be cheaper ...? i need to make the end bend in the shape of a hook for cleaning gutters my pressure washer is 2900 psi ...... no go and amaze me this is why i come here .
meant to say now go and amaze me

Answer
Aluminum cannot handle high pressure all that well as you have seen. It will handle 2900 PSI if the wall thickness is thick enough. My guess is your first tube burst at the bend. Bending the metal will weaken it. Aluminum is not very ductile (bendable) so it tends to fracture easily when it is bent. You will have this problem even with a thicker wall tube.

Stainless steel would be far stronger and with the right wall thickness could easily handle the pressure and bending. The BIG drawbacks are the it is very hard and not easy to bend and also is very heave compared to aluminum. A 16 ft piece of 1/8" wall tubing would weigh more than 40 lbs. Not something you want to lug around all day.

The only thing I know that is light enough and strong enough is composite materials. They cannot be bent after they are laminated up so the bend would have to be part of the manufacturing process. Very, very expensive.

Good luck

What can I use to clean the ground of my drive way?

Kim

I just bought a home and I am doing some cleaning. the driveway ground is very black and dirty, probably from the gutter being recently cleaned after a year.
what can I use to get the ground white again?

Answer
If your driveway is "ground" i.e. "dirt" you can't make it white.

If, however, it is concrete, your best solution is to rent a pressure washer and use a mild solution of TSP (tri-sodium phosphate, available cheap at any paint department -- but do read the mixing directions; it is powerful stuff).

A good gas-powered pressure washer with TSP in the detergent tank will remove dirt, oil, grease, and anything else dirty on your driveway -- but do read the directions girl and don't point the thing at anybody.

Type of oil required for pressure washer pumps?

I have a 3500 psi simpson pressure washer. Bought in 1997 but hardly used. What type of oil does the pressure pump requires? Although I did not use it more than 30 hours but the oil level seems to be low.
Thanks,

Answer
I use straight 30 weight, but the link below suggests a special blend for the manufacturers motor.

".... and made a visit to the local Napa Auto Parts store looking for oil. The guy told me to use 30 weight Non-Detergent oil. He said heâs worked with many a pressure washer and they all took the same oil."

is a 2000 psi electric pressure washer good enough to clean siding and wood deck?

I am looking at purchasing a 2000 psi electric washer and want to know if that will be good for cleaning my wood deck and aluminum siding on my house? i also would use it for other smaller misc. cleanings.

Answer
the 2000 psi washer may cause a bit of damage if used too close to the wooden deck, but if used wisely and not on a too long deck it will be effective. If you take the nozzle too close you might see splinters especially if the wood is not very well seasoned. For a siding this will only be effective if the siding is small and neither very wide nor very long.
Best to use an adjustable washer where you can adjust the pressure and then buy something in the range of 3500 to 4000 psi maximum power. Depends on your budget!
To have a little extra power will help you use the washer for long time and will somehow minimize the maintenance.
Best of Luck!

I changed my brake hose and bled the brakes, now the brakes aren't tightening?

pressure washer hose repair on Electric Pressure Washer Hire Cold Water Pressure Washer Hire (240v)
pressure washer hose repair image

Leen

I had a leak in my brake line, so I changed the hose and bled all of the brakes. Now its not tightening up I can push the brake all the way to the floor. Any tips?

94 Honda accord
Kb that's not a stupid question at all. I forgot to include that yes I did put fluid in

Answer
I have a possibility.
When you bled the brakes...did you also bleed the master cylinder first?? before cracking the bleeder valves at all 4 corners ?

Before you bleed the brake lines out. You also must bleed out the master cylinder before, bleeding the lines. Then you reconnect the brake lines to the master cylinder and then, bleed out the brakes at the bleeder valves.
It seems like a silly thing to have to do BUT it's a necessary step. If air gets trapped inside the master cylinder then it can't produce enough pressure to pressurize the lines. And then the petal just goes to the floor. You can bleed out the lines as much as you can but the petal still goes straight to the floor because there's air still trapped inside of the master cylinder. That air just keeps getting recycled over and over inside and doesn't escape the main chamber.

I've done this repair before. Bleeding out the master cylinder solves the pressure problem.

Another thing that you have to look out for is the torque of the fittings for the hose couplings. Many times you'll wind up replacing the line that runs from the hose to the master cylinder. Because it leaks fluid at that fitting on the end of the hose.
(If you haven't done it) You will also have to replace the copper seal that goes in between the hose and the brake caliper. It looks like a copper "washer" but it's actually a seal for the caliper. Fluid will leak out there if the copper seal ("washer" looking seal) is not replaced. I found this out the "hard way".

how does a washing machine regulate the water that is added?

SwordDance

i mean, what kind of device does a washing machine use. does it measure the water like a flometer or what?

Answer
My Maytag uses a simple manometer. As water in the basket rises, some of it enters and compresses the air in a vertical tube. The air pressure operates a spring-loaded switch that allows the depth of the water to be adjusted. More pressure on the spring translates to more pressure required to trip the switch and stop the water flow into the tub, hence more water in the tub. Sometimes (like every fifteen or twenty years) the hose gets detached from the manometer switch, or the hose starts leaking and the tub will no longer fill to the proper level. This is an easy do-it-yourself repair on my washer. Your mileage may vary.

Should I buy an American car or a Japanese car?

pressure washer nozzle kit on ... Pressure Washer Turbo Nozzle w/ Lance Accessory Kit | Free Shipping
pressure washer nozzle kit image

Tiger L

Are the parts for a Japanese car more expensive? Thank you in advance for any help.

Answer
Buy a japanese car. American cars get cheaper faster, most are made of low quality. Get a nissan sentra spec v or honda civic ex. They are more efficient, decrease in price slower and last longer.
DO NOT rice it please. If you want to modify it, modify the engine. If you want a good exhaust, get a dual or quad exhaust setup.
If you want brake calipers disk rotors etc, get brembo. if you want tires (rubber) get pirelli.

What ricing is:
Ricing a vehicle is meant to emulate the aesthetic work of independent automotive car tuning companies who modify more than just appearance, and to give an appearance of greater ability than the car actually has. Ricing is generally looked down upon amongst people who perform engine tuning and other performance racing modifications.

Common aftermarket modifications in this style can include but are not limited to:

Body modifications
Aerodynamic-seeming or creatively-designed body kits, often with little function
Wings and spoilers that serve no useful function (especially if the car is front wheel drive), possibly increasing drag and decreasing traction.
Carbon fiber hoods (sometimes fiberglass replicas made to look like carbon fiber, or just decorative self adhesive plastic with carbon fiber look)
Non-functional hood scoops and roof scoops.
Excessively large wheels ("rims") (for example chromed, or "dubs", as well as spinners) that often decrease acceleration due to higher rotational inertia. Handling is also often made worse by the extra unsprung weight.
Improperly lowered suspension, such as stock springs shortened by heating or cutting or from getting improper alignment resulting in excessive negative camber.
Bumper canards fitted to the front bumper.
Aesthetics
Bright paint or interior, frequently in contrasting colors
Decals and stickers for aftermarket parts not actually present on the vehicle. A common joke is that every decal "adds 10 horsepower" to the car.
Badging from other higher-performance vehicles or JDM tuning companies like Mugen, Nismo, etc.
Digital turbo, consisting of speakers installed under the car that emulate the sound of a turbo engine.
A loud, free-flowing exhaust system with a large cylindrical resonator at the rear of the car, known as a "fart cannon", a "coffee can" and many other colorful names. Frequently a short large-diameter piece is added to the end of the stock exhaust to provide the appearance of a true free-flowing system without any actual performance enhancement.
A turbocharger simulator that fits inside the exhaust tip and uses exhaust gas pressure to produce the high-pitched "spooling" sound of a turbocharger.
Lighting
Decorative neon and LED lighting in addition to the regular head/tail lamps and brake/turn signals, such as lighted windshield washer nozzles and tire valve caps, underbody neon lighting ("hover lights"), etc.
"Altezza"-style lights or "Altezzas" (equally popular and known as "Lexus" lights in Europe), which have the colored light sources and reflective bodies contained within chrome housings and clear lenses. The term "Altezza" comes from the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Toyota Altezza, known in the US as the Lexus IS300 and Europe as the Lexus IS200. Toyota continues to use "Altezza" style tail lights on various Lexus models, including the RX "crossover SUV" and ES sedan
Super-bright headlight bulbs, sometimes of illegal specification and poorly aligned; colored bulbs, also often illegal, which are used for turning signals, side-markers, etc.
Car has any of the aforementioned modifications, yet appears to have sloppy workmanship or has not been properly cared for (dirty, parts of the car with smashed or dented body work, etc.)

how should i clean an all wood outdoor hot tub without damaging the wood, but making it safe for people to use?

stepsforli

it looks like some kind of redwood, like a giant wine cask (remember lucy & ethel crushing the grapes on I LOVE LUCY?) it's hand made possibly from a kit,I noticed a silicone"caulk" type thing between the planks,it's been sitting for a few seasons gathering leaves and all kinds of bacteria& whatever else, that i need to clean up without affecting the wood. PLEASE HELP! I WANT TO USE MY HOT TUB!!!!
THANKS!!

Answer
Use a pressure washer. Most washers have a feature that allows you to inject chemicals into the output stream. There are a variety of treatments for wood products that will remove stains and disinfect at the same time. Try a major retailer such as Home Depot. If it is just a stain, the high pressure water may do the job without adding any chemical. Just be careful that you don't damage the wood by getting the nozzle too close.
