pressure washer inlet image

I have a Maytag stackable washer and dryer. When you set the washer to fill it does not fill or go through the wash cycle. When you move to knob through the cycle it starts at the spin cycle but still no water or aggitation. Are there any fuses or safety switches that could be the problem?
Thank you, we did check the water source and replaced the water inlet valve. I will let my husband know to check the pressure switch. Unfortunately, where we live it is difficult to get a repair man as it is in a rural area a ways from town. Thank you both for your advice.

Either your inlet valve has failed or the water is turned off. The inlet valve is the thing that the hoses connect to on the back. It's also possible that the pressure (water level) switch is bad or the hose to it is blocked.

what would make the washer not fill up with water properly?

I suspect I have this problem. Could it be the water pressure in the house? Mine is low, because house on a high hill.
Or perhaps not drain properly? Could the filling up problem be caused by low water pressure in the house? Thank you!
ALREADY HAD REPAIRMAN HERE BUT HE SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG. Washer new but clothes DO NOT come out clean. wasing on hot, wITH Tide detergent with water softener, proper size load.
Answer
IF your washer is filling with water and starts agitating before you feel there is enough water, AND you have reset the water level switch, replace the switch. Some folks call it the water pressure switch. Same thing.
The next part has 2 important IF's ...
IF, in the past, your washer has filled properly, is still filling with the correct amount of water, but is taking an interminably long time to fill, turn off the water faucets (spigots), remove the hoses at the rear of the washer and clean out the inlet screens that are located just on the inside of the water valves. Use a toothpick and your pinky finger. Pay close attention to the cold water side which will collect sediment much faster.
IF your washer has NEVER filled at a reasonable rate and the screens are clean, yup ... you have low water pressure. And if you have low pressure throughout the house, there just isn't much you can do much about it other than complain to your water company. However, if you're on a well, you're up a creek without a paddle ... and without water.
