What is too much psi for a pressure washer as I don't want to rip the siding off but need to clean deep oil stains off of concrete?

I am buying a pressure washer soon and REALLY need advice on which one to buy.

I want it to last as I don't want to waste my hard earned dollars but I don't want to purchase one that is more powerful than I need (as the price goes up with power).

Anyone out there with experience, advice or recommendations? Please be informative.....I know nothing!!

Pressure washers come with a few different tips. If you want to clean a larger area or more delicate surface, choose a tip that makes a wider spray. If you want really concentrated cleaning in a small spot on a tough surface, choose a narrower tip. And as Bob says, holding the tip further from the surface results in less pressure hitting the surface.

I have a 2200 psi gas pressure washer and find it works quite well on a variety of surfaces around the house. I had an electric one before, 1300 psi, and found it practically useless. It was so poor that I threw it away when I moved, even though it still worked. I didn't want to inflict it on anyone else.

You probably got a seal gone in it.If it was a cheap unit I'de say s#itcan it.But Honda is a good one,so take it in for repair.I've got a 1300 lb. Wald-Mart special that giving me trouble,and I'm junking it.

How my does it cost to get a house pressure washed?

Depends on many factors and I would stay away from cheapest price. Try to find a contractor accredited with the Power Washers of North America and find examples of similar jobs from them to see their workmanship.

Factors that will effect the price are:

1) substrate - vinyl cladding homes are easier to clean than a brick home
2) level of dirty
3) access - if the house is difficult to access some parts this will take longer
4) degree of difficulty - It may be a large house with gables which will require high ladder work.

You may as well may a little extra to get the job done correctly.

Do not use over 1300 psi on your deck - higher pressures will raise the wood grain. Your siding can take a higher pressure but use the 1300 psi unit (these are available at Lowes/HD etc.) with a cleaner appropriate for you siding.

Remember units with high pressure, say over 2,000 psi can be very dangerous if the direct stream comes in contact with the body.

How good is a Karcher K 310 1100 PSI electric pressure washer?

Q. My brother in law just gave me a Karcher K 310 1100 PSI electric pressure washer that he doesn't use any more. The thing is probably older than 10 years old but he is meticulous about caring for any of his power equipment and I'm sure it's in fine working order (I haven't used it yet).
Most of the pressure washers I had considered purchasing prior to his giving this one to me were at least 1400 psi. Is there that much difference between 1100 and 1400 psi? I'm just going to use it to clean mildew off of my siding and other light residential use.

Useless in my opinion. I had one, Karcher 1300 PSI if I remember right, and hated it so much that I threw it away when I moved even though it was still "working". I didn't want to inflict it on anyone else. I now have a 2200 PSI gas model and the difference is remarkable. I can wash things twice as fast with less patchy results. You have to get very close up with the lower PSI for any effective cleaning, so your spray pattern is very narrow and it takes forever.
