Why does my faucet have poor water pressure?

pressure washer o rings on Click to enlarge image(s)
pressure washer o rings image

Kara C

My faucet in the kitchen sink whistled for a few seconds when I turned on the hot water for a month or two. Now it no longer whistles, but my water pressure has decreased about 50% and the toilet starts running if I turn on the water for more than 5 minutes. Is it something with the faucet or the pipes? What can I do?

Answer
This is a weird one. The most likely cause of the faucet problem is debris - either part of the faucet mechanism - like a washer or an o-ring or something, broke loose and got lodged somewhere inside the water channel or in the little screen. Rust scale in the pipes can cause the same problem.

At the tip of the faucet there is an aerater - a little screen and water limiter - carefully remove that - then turn on the water full blast and see what happens. If you are lucky - the screen etc. is just dirty and the water pressure will be normal - OR the higher water pressure without the limiter of the aerator will force the crud out making things work normally - and you can just clean out the screen.

If that is not the problem - it is deeper down - inside the cartridge - you can replace the cartridge for a new one or just replace the entire faucet.

There should be no way that your toilet is impacted by what is going on with your faucet, unless the supply fill valve is bad and the change in relative water pressure is causing issues. More likely, (and definitely if it sometimes runs randomly even when you aren't using the faucet) is that the flapper valve or that seat is worn and the tank is slowly leaking into the bowl and causing the toilet to run excessively.

I have a pressure washer but I think my water pressure is a little low will this effect the pressure coming?

Curtis J

I have a electric pressure washer but I think my water pressure is a little low will this effect the overall pressure coming out it just doesn't seem to be as strong as I would have thought. Thanks

Answer
I agree with Chris about electric pressure washers. It seems the o-rings in the pump dry out prematurely especially if not operated over winter causing you to have low water pressure. This has happened twice to 2 units that the brand started with a "K". I was only able to use them one time each and that was when they were new out of the box.

Famous cel

tools that I would likely use. brad, finish, framing nailer. pressure washer, paint spray gun, dusting. inflating tires.

do i need to buy an air compressor more than 100psi? or is 115 recommended.

Answer
The problem is volume of air. A compressor that is 150psi and a 5 gallon resovour has 7.5 gallons of useable psi at 100psi. Get the math? If your using a framing nailer is using .1cuft per shot at 100psi and you have a compressor with 5 gallons at 100psi your going to be turning on your compressor pump every 10th shot. those factors get worse the more use you have. An air rachet uses a lot more volume, a paint sprayer even more. If you use a air sander you use a lot too.

What do I need to convert a regular air compressor (for power tools) to a power washer?

Super Dude

They seem similar but different. Normally you buy either an air compressor or a power (water) washer. I want to buy an air compressor, just wondering if it can be easily converted into a power washer.

Answer
A powerwasher does not use air assit to begin with..it is all hydraulic pressure from the hydraulic pump on it...About all you can use on a compressor to make a power washer will be the tires and the frame to mount the motor/pumps etcetera on.. Pressure washer needs no air tank

Is it legal to use pressure washer to clean car?

pressure washer on car on ... Washer (Portotecnica 2960) - China Hot/Cold Water High Pressure Washer
pressure washer on car image

Tom

Hi, I would like to know if its legal to use pressure washer to clean car on a public road ?

Answer
Pressure washing contractors do it every day, the legal issue has to do with reclaiming the water. Some cities are mandating that if you wash a car with a pressure washer, you must have a system to vacuum the water back up. They state that cars get many contaminants that should not be washed down the drain. Some cities will require you to pick the water up, AND have a special permit to do so. Check my sources- I have included a forum discussion on this among pressure washer contractors, and a document from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. Check with your county, city, and state for the mandates to make sure you are not breaking any laws.

What's the best electric pressure washer for detailing cars?

black_ice_

I'm looking for a good quality pressure washer for cleaning cars. It needs to be able to draw from a water tank without assistance, and it needs to be reliable. About $200 is my budget, but I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible while still keeping quality.

Answer
For $200 you are not going to get any kind of quality pressure washer.
You need a washer which operates at 1800 PSI or higher pressure output to perform effectively. They start at around $350 - $400 dollars. I do not know of any commercially available pressure washers which will draw from an unpressurized tank - they all are designed to operate from a pressurized hose delivering 3-5 GPM @ 20+ PSI.

What is causing my hot water heater to suddenly create less hot water?

pressure washer gas vs electric on chamber construction
pressure washer gas vs electric image

Michigan F

I am a new homeowner. My hot water heater is pretty new, as it was installed in the spring of 2008. In the last few weeks, it seems that the hot water isn't as abundant as it used to be. I used to take really hot showers and stay in them for 20 minutes or so and soak. The hot water would never run out and I would have to get out because I had enough. I also notice that when I turn on my shower, I have to almost turn the cold water all the way off to get it to the temperature I like. Before, I would turn the hot water on, and then maybe turn the cold water halfway on.

I was just curious if this is something that I could fix. It has gotten colder due to winter, so are there adjustments I have to make to my hot water heater to account for the cold outside?

I did recently shut off the water to my 2 outside spouts, but I'm not thinking that has anything to do with this, but who knows.

Any help from any of you experienced homeowners would sure make my day, and my showers more enjoyable.

Thanks.

Answer
I would guess one of the (2) heating elements you have has gone bad. This means that you only have 50% of the heating capacity left in your water heater. So as you use hot water, there is new cold water coming into the water heater. This cold water cannot be heated up as fast now, so as it comes into the tank it immediately starts cooling off the existing hot water in the water heater.
The other thing it could be is your heating elements are starting to build up mineral deposits on them which covers them with a coating of scale and minerals. This is especially true if you are on well water. There can also be sediment build up in the bottom of the tank, which can get so deep as it covers up the bottom heating element completely. This then burns out the bottom element.
The thermostat could also be bad, however thermostats usually either work or they don't - there is no in between.
Call a reputable plumbing company and ask provide them with the brand of your water heater, the model number and the total gallon capacity. Ask them about what it would cost to diagnose the problem - most of the time this is a free estimate, but ask how much anyway.
If and when they do come out to actually do the work - you can save yourself some labor time by shutting off the water heater and draining the water heater before the plumber arrives. There is a drain valve at the bottom of the tank you can attach a garden hose to. Shut off gas/electric first, then shut incoming water supply, let pressure off by opening hot&cold faucet at lowest place in the house, attach garden hose and open drain valve.
After plumber is finished, remove all aerators ( little screw on fitting under your faucet spouts), this lets any debris that comes loose when you shut your water off flow out of the lines vs. clogging up all your faucets. Let water run for a couple minutes, then shut off and screw aerators back in place.
I would also remove shower heads, and check your washer screens on your clothes washer inlet fittings on the back of your washing machine.
Good Luck

How do you repaint a peeling deck?

brizkin1

I have a pressure treated deck that hasn't been painted for about 5 years. the paint is all peeling off in some places but the wood is in decent condition. I would like to know what I have to do remove the peeled paint and how to repaint. Do I need any special equipment (pressure washer/ paint sprayer) and do I need a primer since the deck doesn't have one?

Answer
Use a wire brush to remove as much of the loose paint as you can. I would then suggest an orbital sander with about 60 or 80 grit sand paper to remove the rest. A stripper would be too messy. But, sand paper with this big a grit should be able to remove the remaining paint with minimal clogging. When the paint is gone, switch to a 150 to 220 grit paper for final sanding. If you have a pressure washer, you can use it to clean the surface of sawdust before painting. Then put on a wood primer and paint away.

What PSI to pressure wash red brick patio?

greglovern

We have a patio made from standard red bricks. Over the years it has become very dirty and doesn't come clean by squirting water on it from the garden hose.

I'm considering buying an inexpensive pressure washer. What PSI would I need for this job?

Answer
Another option would be to hire a mobile pressure washing company to clean it for you. Professionals should have years of experience and top of the line equipment that can get the job right in a fraction of the time it would take you. Our machines are big industrial units that use up to 300°F HOT water and steam at 3500 psi to clean grime, grease, spills, dirt, etc. from just about any surface. Cold water machines force you to use higher pressure and get closer with the wand, which can result in pitting out your bricks and leaving wand marks or "snail trails" if you use a 0° tip.

If you decide to go this route, get a couple estimates from a few local pressure washers and make sure they are going to use heat and have years of experience. The cost is probably worth it to save you the time and energy of buying/renting and then doing the job yourself. Most companies would probably give you a discounted rate if you agree to have it cleaned monthly, quarterly, or annually.

You can check out our operation as an example of what to look for at http://www.acmepowerwash.com.

I'm 20 years old live in Los angeles I have a truck & some experience in detailing/washing & some clients!

What are the basics things too buy just too start ? Any heads up ?

I was thinking pressure washer vacumme Busines cards flyate generator & washing utensils & water tank?

I have $500-700 budget!

Answer
You just about got the list right, this actually was the very first business I did. You can get lots of the stuff at Pawn Shops or on Craigslist used for a good price. I would say a good vacuum first, washing utensils and then a pressure washer generator, try and get a quite running one.

What I did was start in the residential areas, in that way I could use the clients power and water. As my funds and clients built up I got into washing at commercial spaces where you would need to have your own everything. The key to this business is trust, people have to be able to trust you with their vehicle and it's contents. So make sure you look presentably, get maybe one or two shirts with your name and some simple logo so you look legit and just market like crazy and do a good job. Always ask for referrals, and give out tons of business cards in the areas you serve.

You can also rent equipment you don't have for now as well, so book several shampoo's in one day and rent the machine from HomeDepot for the day, same with the generator and pressure washer. Also put a nice heavy orbiter and buffer on the list as well. Look to buy your stuff also wholesale if you can as this will save you some money and you get commercial grade stuff which typically perform better.

Hope this helps if I can be of additional assistance please let me know.

Where can I buy boat cleaning supplies in bulk?

Questionma

I would like to start a boat cleaning business and would like to buy big 5 gallon or 55 gallon drums of cleaning supplies and waxes and polishes. Is there a website or supplier? Thanks for the help, I am a college student and just wanting to make some extra cash in the summers.

Answer
Cleaning supplies for boats are not really much different from most everything else. Ok! Guys calm down! Yes, there are a ton of "Boat products! Special care should be exercised when it comes to environmental issues. (Green Products). Vinyl plastic, Canvas parts, Fiberglass, some upholstery issues.

But, Soap is Soap.

Other than some "caustic" products I've found you can do about as well at Costco, as from "wholesalers". I even find useful things at the Dollar store.

I once bottled my own brand of Boat wash. I bought drums of a pretty good cleaner, bottled it and labeled it. it retailed for about half the price of Name brand "boat cleaner".

The trick is to "know" what works and what doesn't.

You can buy wax and rubbing compounds, from "Automotive Paint" wholesalers. Like Sherwin-Williams Auto Paint stores. (Different from their regular paint stores.)

But you can also get set up to buy from boat stores, like West Marine or Defenders Boat supply. The more you buy the better the price. However the bulk savings are small in comparison to other businesses. (Read: "are not worth the effort")

I think the biggest thing you need to know about is the use of buffers, pressure washers, etc. Be very mindful of safety. Wear goggles. Rubber gloves, long sleeve shirts etc.

Where can we rent a pressure washer?

Q. To clean the siding on the house we're buying. Would Lowes or Home Depot carry them? I live in central Virginia.

Answer
I don't like to clean houses with a pressure washer.

You need a bucket and a car washing brush.
You want to screw that brush to an extension pole.
You need some dish soap and some laundry bleach like Clorox.
Half a cup to 2 gallons of water.
Wear old clothes.
Put some soap in your bleach water.
Wet the house with a regular low pressure garden hose.
Wash an area six or eight feet wide just like you are washing a truck or camper. Scrub it all good and rinse.
Move to the next section of wall.

Pressure washers are okay for decks and driveways.
They blow water behind the siding and cause rot and mold or mildew.
It is not a good thing.
Siding is designed to keep rain out of your house.
It is not designed for a pressure washer.

Scrub brush on a pole works a lot better.
Use the garden hose for rinsing the soap off.
You don't want pressure.
You don't want to get water in the attic either.

Q. Someone threw a yellow paint ball at our new siding, way up high. I can't get up on a ladder so I guess I'm looking to use an extension pole/sprayer/mop/etc and some cleaner. I was hoping the rain would wash it off but that doesn't seem to be happening. HELP!
I tried 409 but the paint didn't budge. I know NOTHING about paint balls. Is it possible that some other kind of paint could be in a paint ball?

This shouldn't be a problem, paint ball paint is water soluable. The only thing I can think of is the rain isn't getting to it. Use a hose, this failing get a pressure washer.

Where to buy a sewer nozzle ?

pressure washer nozzle size on Pressure Washer Lance Nozzle JET 1 4
pressure washer nozzle size image
Q. For out design at university we need a sewer nozzle type thing . Where I can order one apart from ebay ?

Answer
Pressure Washer Spray Nozzle can be identified by the nozzle "number", a four or five digit number that is stamped on the nozzle, which indicates the spray angle and orifice size. In all cases the first two digits of the nozzle number indicate the spray angle (disperse) in degrees.

EXAMPLE: 00 is 0 degree, 15 is 15 degree, 25 is 25 degree and 40 is 40 degree. The last two digits of the nozzle number indicate the orifice size, a standard industry designation. EXAMPLE: 06 is a 6.0 orifice, 55 is a 5.5 orifice. These numbers correspond to the actual dimensions, giving the size of the orifice.

They do not however directly indicate gallons per minute, flow rates or inches in diameter of the orifice. Some power washers come with an adjustable nozzle (called Vari Nozzle) that is attached to the end of the wand. The fan spray may be adjusted by turning the nozzle, chemical may also be applied by pulling out word on the nozzle. or more information click on source link.

The cons of a pressure washer?

Q. Sand blaster/pressure washer. Besides the price?
Perhaps damage? Thanks!

Answer
Depending on the tip size and how close it is to the surface, it can peel paint, leave dark streaks on bare wood like a deck, and even peel the skin off your hand! So just keep the nozzle about a foot away from the surface and sweep back and forth evenly to get even cleaning that doesn't damage it.

I have a project coming up tomorrow to pressure wash a very large fence and lost the black chemical nozzle. I have been to 5 different stores with no luck. Is there anyway around this? Can I attach a slip lock fitting and plug it into the end of the wand and then screw in an adjustable nozzle to create more back pressure to dispense the soap? Where the tube fits into the pump it looks like a pressure ball fitting that would need pressure to open the flow. If this were to work I could only find a plastic slip lock fitting. Would this hold up to the pressure or do you think it would break sending my helper to his knees? I put this in automotive because I thought it was more of a mechanical question. Any jimmy rig ideas that would last a couple days of spraying?

What do you guys think and suggest?

Thanks,

D.

Answer
Here is my suggestion --- take it for what it's worth, which is speculation. Unless someone has purchased such a washer and knows....everyone can only 'speculate'.

So....if this is your first washer, and you're using it for business purposes, buy one locally. Pay the money and get one with a warranty from a company that looks like they will be in business at least for one year (yeah I know). That way if anything happens, you can take it there and let them deal with it and get it back quickly. Otherwise you run the risk of having something happen, then taking it somewhere and no one being familiar with it and either you're waiting forever for parts, or paying thru the nose for labor...or both and being without it for who knows how long.

After you buy your first one and you're good......then go buy one off ebay, then if anything happens, you're covered. If it turns out to be a good deal, then buy another one, but for the first one...for business....buy local.

I am a mobile car detailer - Can i replace my bulky 4kw generator with an inverter to run off 12v battery?

pressure washer trailer on PortableTrailer Pressure Washer
pressure washer trailer image

cdjr36

i need more room in my van so want to get rid of bulky 4kw generator. I need 4kw to boot up my 1.5kw pressure washer.

Answer
The current required from the battery will be 4000 watts / 12V = 333 amps. You will need very large wires to the inverter. Even running current 1500 watts / 12V = 125 amps. Is the alternator in the car capable of supplying this much current to keep the battery charged? I suspect you'll be hard pressed to make this work with the stock alternator. Upgrade the alternator and battery and you may have a chance.
Perhaps you could mount the generator on a trailer hitch carrier to free up space within the van.

What equipment would I need to start a mobile car wash?

sweet a

I know that I need rags, brushes, products etc. What I dont know is what do I buy to get the water to wash the cars, like what powers the pressure washer, etc

Answer
Most people use a gasoline powered pressure washer. You can get water either from a long hose ran to a nearby building, or you can get one of those large water tanks, usually 90+ gallons. Most people mount the pressure washer and tank combo to a small trailer, or inside a large work van.

Then, like you said your soaps, cleaners, waxes, polishes, chamois, a vacuum, interior carpet cleaner, a brass brush, a ton of rags, etc.

Will a 1.9 gpm pressure washer work with a 5.5 gpm wand?

Zach T

I have acquired a Craftsman Clean n Carry pressure washer for free because it "didn't pump right". It is 4 hp and rated for 2150 psi/ 1.9 GPM. Unfortunately, it came without the hose and wand as well. :( When nothing is attached to the outlet connection while it's running it produces a nearly painful stream of water. The pump appears to be in great shape. However, whenever the wand is attached, the pressure is very low. The wand is rated for 5.5 GPM. Why is the pressure low?

Answer
Buy a japanese car. American cars get cheaper faster, most are made of low quality. Get a nissan sentra spec v or honda civic ex. They are more efficient, decrease in price slower and last longer.
DO NOT rice it please. If you want to modify it, modify the engine. If you want a good exhaust, get a dual or quad exhaust setup.
If you want brake calipers disk rotors etc, get brembo. if you want tires (rubber) get pirelli.

What ricing is:
Ricing a vehicle is meant to emulate the aesthetic work of independent automotive car tuning companies who modify more than just appearance, and to give an appearance of greater ability than the car actually has. Ricing is generally looked down upon amongst people who perform engine tuning and other performance racing modifications.

Common aftermarket modifications in this style can include but are not limited to:

Body modifications
Aerodynamic-seeming or creatively-designed body kits, often with little function
Wings and spoilers that serve no useful function (especially if the car is front wheel drive), possibly increasing drag and decreasing traction.
Carbon fiber hoods (sometimes fiberglass replicas made to look like carbon fiber, or just decorative self adhesive plastic with carbon fiber look)
Non-functional hood scoops and roof scoops.
Excessively large wheels ("rims") (for example chromed, or "dubs", as well as spinners) that often decrease acceleration due to higher rotational inertia. Handling is also often made worse by the extra unsprung weight.
Improperly lowered suspension, such as stock springs shortened by heating or cutting or from getting improper alignment resulting in excessive negative camber.
Bumper canards fitted to the front bumper.
Aesthetics
Bright paint or interior, frequently in contrasting colors
Decals and stickers for aftermarket parts not actually present on the vehicle. A common joke is that every decal "adds 10 horsepower" to the car.
Badging from other higher-performance vehicles or JDM tuning companies like Mugen, Nismo, etc.
Digital turbo, consisting of speakers installed under the car that emulate the sound of a turbo engine.
A loud, free-flowing exhaust system with a large cylindrical resonator at the rear of the car, known as a "fart cannon", a "coffee can" and many other colorful names. Frequently a short large-diameter piece is added to the end of the stock exhaust to provide the appearance of a true free-flowing system without any actual performance enhancement.
A turbocharger simulator that fits inside the exhaust tip and uses exhaust gas pressure to produce the high-pitched "spooling" sound of a turbocharger.
Lighting
Decorative neon and LED lighting in addition to the regular head/tail lamps and brake/turn signals, such as lighted windshield washer nozzles and tire valve caps, underbody neon lighting ("hover lights"), etc.
"Altezza"-style lights or "Altezzas" (equally popular and known as "Lexus" lights in Europe), which have the colored light sources and reflective bodies contained within chrome housings and clear lenses. The term "Altezza" comes from the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Toyota Altezza, known in the US as the Lexus IS300 and Europe as the Lexus IS200. Toyota continues to use "Altezza" style tail lights on various Lexus models, including the RX "crossover SUV" and ES sedan
Super-bright headlight bulbs, sometimes of illegal specification and poorly aligned; colored bulbs, also often illegal, which are used for turning signals, side-markers, etc.
Car has any of the aforementioned modifications, yet appears to have sloppy workmanship or has not been properly cared for (dirty, parts of the car with smashed or dented body work, etc.)

Is there a pressure washer specifically for the removal of chewing gum from sidewalks?

Answer
Yes. Try a PW with PSI of 3000 to 4000 or a lower PSI with a Turbo Nozzle.

My bricks are looking a bit bad from rain splashing on them in certain parts. They are starting to turn dark along with the mortar. What can I use to clean it? I don't have a pressure washer.

Answer
Mojo, I do know of a solution here for your problem. I know of an 'acid' solution that brick layers use. They use this when there done building the wall, it cleans the brick wall. They de-lute it with a little water and spray the acid solution on the brick wall then with a garden hose and a stiff short-haired broom, they scrub the brick wall. Washing the dirty brick off to give it a clean look. You should be able to pick up this acid solution at a local hardware store and explain what your doing to someone there. Someone at the store should be able to find this acid solution for you. It`s just made for cleaning bricks and concrete. Read the instructions and always were eye protection, especially when working with 'acid'. Hoped this help point you in the right direction. Good Luck an make it look nice again...

How to clean our wooden fence?

pressure washer injuries on Pressurewasher | Parts for Pressure Washer
pressure washer injuries image

Sara

Hello,
We recently purchased our home and are about to move in. One of our main concerns in our gray and shabby fence. How do we clean and seal it?

Can we rent a pressure washer from home depot or something? or should we let a professional do the job? Also how much would it cost?

Thanks!

Answer
The reason your fence is grey is because it's cedar. It starts off salmon colored, and slowly fades to gray. The inside might still have some of the coppery orangy colored wood, but maybe not. If the wood has deep grain grooves, then it's become brittle and those bits need to be replaced.

Otherwise, this is just the way cedar fences look. The important thing is to make sure the wood is stable. Any wooden posts should be pushed on to make sure they're not broken off at the ground. The back sides of fences should be checked to make sure the support boards are not rotted out at the ends.

Any loose nails or screws should be replaced. Make sure not to use too long of a fastener, otherwise, you could be liable for any injury of someone bumping into the pointy end on the other side of the fence.

If you have to do too much work, you may want to simply replace the fence, but I find for an old fence, I replace one post and three support boards every 2-5 years. I have 20 sections and one gate.

If you do replace the fence, go with galvanized steel posts because they'll last 50 years or more. If you already have the steel posts, then this is great and will save some time and cost on replacement.

If you're keeping the fence, and it's strong and secure, then here's what I would do.

You can use the solution recommended for vinyl siding. A quarter cup detergent, a quarter cup chlorine bleach, and a gallon of water. Put this in a garden sprayer and coat the whole fence with it. Obviously, don't wear good clothes since you're working with bleach.

This will kill any mildew and you can use a spray hose to rinse off any dirt and crud.

If you want to preserve it a bit, let it dry well before attempting to paint or seal it. You can use any sort of deck seal with UV protection. Some of these will have a stain in them which will help cover up the grey. Otherwise, you could use an outdoor, oil based paint. You can use rollers or paint brushes, but it's slow going. A sprayer will get between the boards better and be faster, but you'll end up painting your lawn, a few trees, etc if you're not careful.

Darker colors will make the wood heat up more, so a light colored fence paint is the safest for long-term health.

The only problem is that you may not be able to get into neighbor's yards to paint the back of the fence. Without that, it won't be sealed, and the paint will start peeling in a year or two.

If you DO replace the fence, you can buy pre-stained, pre-sealed fences. Some are pressure treated too, or you can get only PT and not sealed. PT is greenish for a couple of years, and will turn grey after that, but won't rot nearly as quickly. The sealed fence will look "new" longer, but will require re-sealing from time to time unless the stain is pressured in (rare).

What kind of coolant is okay to use in a 98 Ford Taurus?

shyguy8413

And also, what color? I heard green, but I'm not sure.

Answer
According to your owners manual, It could be Green, or it could be Orange, depending on which engine the vehicle is equipped with.
You can download your complete Owners manual (in pdf format)
by submitting year/make/model from Ford Owner website

See the chapter on adding coolant , starting on page 138
_____copy of page 138-140_____
Adding engine coolant
Do not put engine coolant in the reservoir
for the windshield washer fluid.
Do not mix conventional green coolant, orange
coolant or recycled coolants together in your
vehicle. Use only the type of coolant that your
vehicle was originally equipped with . If you
are unsure which type of coolant your vehicle
requires, contact your local dealer.
If sprayed on the windshield, engine coolant could
make it difficult to see through the windshield.
When the engine is cool, add a 50/50 mixture of
engine coolant and water to the engine coolant
reservoir. Add straight water only in an emergency,
but you should replace it with a 50/50 mixture of
coolant and distilled water as soon as possible.
Check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir the
next few times you drive the vehicle. If necessary,
add enough of a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water
to bring the liquid level to the fill line on the
reservoir.
If you must remove the coolant reservoir cap, follow
these steps to avoid personal injury:
1. Before you remove the cap, turn the engine off
and let it cool.
2. When the engine is cool, wrap a thick cloth
around the cap. Slowly turn cap counterclockwise
until pressure begins to release.
3. Step back while the pressure releases.
4. When you are sure that all the pressure has been
released, use the cloth to turn it counterclockwise
and remove the cap.
Change your engine coolant according to the
appropriate schedule listed in the âService Guideâ.
Before adding engine coolant, check the color of the
coolant in your vehicle.
For vehicles with green coolant, use Ford
Premium Cooling System Fluid E2FZ-19549âAA (in
Canada, Motorcraft CXC-8âB) or an equivalent
premium engine coolant that meets Ford
specification ESE-M97B44âA.
Do not add orange coolant or recycled coolant
to your vehicle originally equipped with
conventional green coolant .
For vehicles with orange coolant, use Ford
Extended Life Engine Coolant F6AZ-19544âAA or a
DEX-COOLt equivalent that meets Ford
specification WSS-M97B44âD.
Do not add conventional green coolant or
recycled coolant to your vehicle originally
equipped with orange coolant.
Do not use alcohol or methanol antifreeze or any
engine coolants mixed with alcohol or methanol
antifreeze. Do not use supplemental coolant

additives in your vehicle. These additives may harm
your engine cooling system. The use of an improper
coolant may void your warranty of your vehicleâs
engine cooling system.
Recycled engine coolant
Ford Motor Company recommends that Ford and
Lincoln-Mercury dealers use recycled engine coolant
produced by Ford-approved processes.
For vehicles with green coolant, not all coolant
recycling processes produce coolant which meets
Ford specification ESE-M97B44âA, and use of such
coolant may harm engine and cooling system
components.
For vehicles with orange coolant, no recycling
process has been approved at this time and use of
such coolant may harm engine and cooling system
components.
Always dispose of used automotive fluids in a
responsible manner. Follow your communityâs
regulations and standards for recycling and disposing
of automotive fluids.

i hope this helps

The hose split on my pressure washer and I need to replace it.

Answer
That is a imported product, but you can take that hose to a good auto parts store or industrial supply store and they can match up your hose and make you a new one. (one that will be of higher quality)

Can someone tell me how do I clean the engine and the other parts under the hood ?

Luv u 2

Someone told me I had to be careful if I washed it with a pressure washer because of the electrical. What's the right way to do it?

Answer
Auto supply stores sell spray on garden hose off engine cleaners like "Gunk Engine Bright" "Motor Shine". alternators distributors and electrical junction boxes should not be directly sparyed. Spark plugs that sit in wells with long wire connectors will need to be blown out with an compressed air hose and long tipped air nozzel. Something are best done in a shop where there is compressed air and some one who is able to dry out wet electrical connectors. You might even be able to turn on your "Check Engine Light"

What is best gas powered pressure washer in the 3000-3500 PSI range?

icp_tcarri

Ive been trying to find the best gas powered pressure washer in the 3000-3500 psi range. Going to be used to regular home use but would like to have to option of having the extra power. I am willing to spend the extra money on a better unit or brand. Ive been looking at different brands, and i see generac keeps popping up as one of better units for money. i also read good things about rigid. its getting confusing.... I want it to last, i want a good brand, and i want some extra power? Any Help?
Would you consider this to be a Good - Very good pressure washer. For home use as well semi commercial. and good for that price range of 800.

Answer
In general consumer grade equipment such as that sold at Home Depot or Walmart will not hold up as long as commercial equipment typically sold at an independent power equipment retailer. I would go to a lawnmower shop that sells commercial equipment and see what they have, the price is quite a bit higher but for regular home use you will almost always never have a problem with the unit for as long as you own it. Brands are pretty much irrelevant anymore in consumer grade because there have been so many company mergers. You can have one company like MTD making over 10 different brands. El cheapo pressure washers typically have Briggs or Tecumseh engines, I've been seeing many now with no-name Chinese engines on them, but good units almost always have Honda engines.
