Are there any pressure washers that have its own water tank?

I am looking to wash the undercarriage of my car. I live in an apartment, and don't have access to a water source. I am finding it impossible to find a pressure washer that has its own tank. The few I found seemed to stop selling in the US (Nomad pressure washer comes to mind).

My car has a special paint, and cannot run through a car wash. I think I can use the self-service, but if there is a different solution, I would like to go that route instead.

Any advice?
Thanks for the advice William - I sadly moved into a big city for work, and all my friends have similar living situations :'(

What's are the key things to know about pressure washers?

If you wanted to run a cleaning business for cars, patios, boats, utility trailers etc? Would an electric pressure washer cut it, or would gas powered be best? Does the water temperature matter?

Answer
one key point applies to u.k. we call leisure vehicles that you tow behind your car - caravans. I think you call them fifth wheelers. you must not use a pressure washer on these as it washes out the mastic sealant, result- scrap vehicle. for an electric one you would also need a petrol (gas) run a a/c generator, as you would not always have access to electric and could hardly expect to use your customer's power. mostly you would only need cold water, you get special soap suds for low temp use

Is it okay to use bleach in a pressure washer?

I'm going to pressure wash my house before painting it. Someone told me not to run bleach through my pressure washer. I'm thinking of using a deck sprayer to spray on the bleach/water mixture to clean the exterior of the house if it's not a good idea to run the bleach through the pressure washer. What say you?

Answer
I am a 37 year experienced painter and pressure wash every exterior I do.. I also repair airless sprayers, pressure washers, compressors etcetera...A pressure washer has a solvent tube on it for mixing/applying your cleaning agents or they simply have the black tip to attach that is a solvent tip..or the cheaper ones have a twisting adjusting nozzle on them that when in the fullest open mode applies the solvents...I have ALWAYS used bleach in my pressure washers for over 25 years and it does no harm at all..if the washer has the soolvent tube on it simply put it in the bottle of bleach and when you attach the black tip on the wand it will dispense it accordingly...when you change the tip after bleaching to a washing tip..it will stop dispensing it..I actually use the 12%m chlorine I buy from a swimming pool place in mine and not the 5% in common stores...This is over twice the strength of common bleach, and it has not harmed a pressure washer as of yet...The important part is flushing the washer out and dispensing tube of the bleach after using..IT WILL NOT HARM THE PRESSURE WASHER...

How do you clean a metal roof?

kmisa

I have an industrial size pressure washer (the kind that has to be hauled on a trailer). We have only had the metal roof for about 1 1/2 year and I am afraid of damaging it with the pressure washer. What chemicals should I use and is there anything natural that can be used?

Answer
Hire a professional to avoid chemical and water damage to your home. The money spent for a professional will outweigh what you could end up with in repairs!

Answer
Any small-engine repair shop should be able to help you. Failing that, Coleman has a customer-service website.

I have a Coleman pressure washer that Coleman says is obsolete. I need a part for it. Where can I go?

Answer
Depends where you live and what part you need.

Its likely that some parts of that washer were used in other Coleman products. A shop specializing in small machine servicing (lawn mowers, compressors, golf carts etc) might be able to offer some suggestions.

I know of two such shops within 10 minutes of my office (near chicago) but if you live in a smaller city they might be harder to come by.

How do i fix a garden faucet to hose leak?

pressure washer replacement hose on ... Powerwasher-Replacement-Hose-Pressure-Power-Washer-1-4-Inch-by-25-Foot
pressure washer replacement hose image

beeballer

My garden faucet leaks at the connection to the hose only while it is connected and turned on. I tried putting plumber's tape around it and also replaced the o-ring washer in the hose. It still sprays out of the connection. Assuming I try another hose on it and it still leaks, do I need to replace the garden faucet? What's wrong with it?

Answer
It would be wise to determine if as you suspect, if it is a defective hose end. If it is and the rest of the hose is worth it, they sell replacements that are not difficult to install. Before any of that though, be sure there is not a vacuum breaker on the hose bibb. You will know if there is by seeing little holes made into the brass body where your hose threads on. If you do have one, it's supposed to leak if it detects 'back pressure'. If you end up changing your lawn faucet, it may be sold as a hose bibb, boiler drain, or sill cock. All of this of course is based on the idea that the water leaking is coming from the hose thread connection. If it's leaking around the stem, the part that the handle is connected to, simply use a crescent type wrench to turn the 'packing nut' to the right while it,s leaking until it stops leaking. Good luck.

How to clean our wooden fence?

Sara

Hello,
We recently purchased our home and are about to move in. One of our main concerns in our gray and shabby fence. How do we clean and seal it?

Can we rent a pressure washer from home depot or something? or should we let a professional do the job? Also how much would it cost?

Thanks!

Answer
The reason your fence is grey is because it's cedar. It starts off salmon colored, and slowly fades to gray. The inside might still have some of the coppery orangy colored wood, but maybe not. If the wood has deep grain grooves, then it's become brittle and those bits need to be replaced.

Otherwise, this is just the way cedar fences look. The important thing is to make sure the wood is stable. Any wooden posts should be pushed on to make sure they're not broken off at the ground. The back sides of fences should be checked to make sure the support boards are not rotted out at the ends.

Any loose nails or screws should be replaced. Make sure not to use too long of a fastener, otherwise, you could be liable for any injury of someone bumping into the pointy end on the other side of the fence.

If you have to do too much work, you may want to simply replace the fence, but I find for an old fence, I replace one post and three support boards every 2-5 years. I have 20 sections and one gate.

If you do replace the fence, go with galvanized steel posts because they'll last 50 years or more. If you already have the steel posts, then this is great and will save some time and cost on replacement.

If you're keeping the fence, and it's strong and secure, then here's what I would do.

You can use the solution recommended for vinyl siding. A quarter cup detergent, a quarter cup chlorine bleach, and a gallon of water. Put this in a garden sprayer and coat the whole fence with it. Obviously, don't wear good clothes since you're working with bleach.

This will kill any mildew and you can use a spray hose to rinse off any dirt and crud.

If you want to preserve it a bit, let it dry well before attempting to paint or seal it. You can use any sort of deck seal with UV protection. Some of these will have a stain in them which will help cover up the grey. Otherwise, you could use an outdoor, oil based paint. You can use rollers or paint brushes, but it's slow going. A sprayer will get between the boards better and be faster, but you'll end up painting your lawn, a few trees, etc if you're not careful.

Darker colors will make the wood heat up more, so a light colored fence paint is the safest for long-term health.

The only problem is that you may not be able to get into neighbor's yards to paint the back of the fence. Without that, it won't be sealed, and the paint will start peeling in a year or two.

If you DO replace the fence, you can buy pre-stained, pre-sealed fences. Some are pressure treated too, or you can get only PT and not sealed. PT is greenish for a couple of years, and will turn grey after that, but won't rot nearly as quickly. The sealed fence will look "new" longer, but will require re-sealing from time to time unless the stain is pressured in (rare).

I'm 27, enrolled full-time in school, i have no job because my folks said they would help me w/ school. Turns out they aren't going to help w/ anything other then letting me sleep in their house. They do however do a lot for my son. Since I had him I've worked Full-Time jobs. But last year I had a nervous breakdown from so many years of emotional and mental abuse. I messed up a relationship w/ a man that really cared about me and my son lived him. I quit my job and started working some dead end in the mall job. It was like I'd gone back to being 17, and I still feel like I'm there, and I can't stand it. My current boyfriend, well ex technically, but not, it's complicating...well he suffers from extreme depression and suicidal tendencies. He just went to a mental hospital for a few days, he's out and ok, but I feel like his family is depending on me for some things, that adds more pressure to things. My parents and I don't get along at all. My dad doesn't have the ability to listen to a question w/out snapping and yelling at you, then saying stuff to make you feel like shit, my mother nags me. "If you cook, you clean!" Even if I make dinner for the house, etc I get to clean all of it, regardless of what kind of day I've had. And it has to be put back in the exact order that it was before. Then there is the fact that I get to do laundry maybe once a week, and 1 load. She is alway using the washer and dryer. Ok I can deal w/ that, but I need to be able to. Then I get the, "well make sure you take all of it out, cause I don't want to deal with it later" bit. My son, is eating more and gaining weight and I'm concerned that he is starting to get depressed and feels rejected. He most likely is. I have 4 classes in school right now and I'm surrounded by 18 yr old kids, most of which laugh at the teacher or don't do their work when required, and the responsibility lands in my lap. I have like a 3.76 gpa, i don't want that to go down cause of some punk ass kids. Then when I confront the teacher about it, then he's like well this is the first go around, the final they won't get credit. I'm like ok, that's good, they are gonna pass the class because you won't knock their grades down cause they lack any form of knowledge in the subject? Are you KIDDING ME? My living quarters is a disaster, I have cloths, trash, cds, magic the gathering cards, comic books, all stacked in a 12X3 walk in closet or so it seems. I want to sell the magic cards and comics to make some money, but I never get around to it. My son, is always like hey mom, check out this blaster...my responses are sometimes ok sure, other times i'm like go occupy yourself I'm in the worst mood. I don't want to take it out on him, so I guess I push him away. I feel like shit, I feel hopeless, and I have no clue what to do. Someone, anyone, please answer and give me thoughts, ideas, anything cause I'm lost and falling deeper and deeper into a place I just don't want to go, despair, extreme depression, and failure.

What are your thoughts on this story?

Kayla 5'3 brown hair brown eyes and skinny
Today she is wearing White skinny jeans, a white ruffle cardigan, a white lacy blouse and leapord pink high heels.

Kayla woke up and ate breakfast and was getting reading to spend the whole day having a great time. She excitedly got dressed and put on her favorite white skinnies. She met her friend Brittany and the two 18 year olds drove off to start their day.
They both arrived at the local mall at 9am and got large iced coffees. They quickly drank their drinks and began shopping at different stores and by the time they were done shopping realized it was now 12 o'clock. As they sat down to eat their lunch they both got two 16oz sodas and Brittany said " Kayla I've been holding my pee all morning I'm gonna go to the bathroom before I pee myself ". They both laughed and Kayla said " I only have to go a little bit I'll wait until we get home ". Kayla then said " Hold on a second Britt where'd you get those jeans, the grey color goes really good with that tang top." Brittany said " forever 21 and if you don't stop I'll pee them", she laughed and walked off to the bathroom.

A few minutes later they finished their lunches and sodas and began to drive home. It was now 12:45 and Kayla hadn't peed since this morning. They both went to the car and as they were getting in Brittany jokingly said " don't pee your pants in the car ", Kayla just laughed and they started driving.

5 minutes into the car ride now and Kayla was starting to feel her bladder fill up. She wasn't desperate and was able to sit still but the pressure on her bladder had started to annoy her. She put her hands on her jean clad legs and avoided thinking about running water. 10 minutes past and Kayla's need to pee grew progressively worse. She now had her legs crossed and was afraid that they wouldn't get home in time. A few minutes later Kayla was now shaking and crossing her legs in desperation. She got a nervous look on her face and whispered " um Britt I gotta pee ". Britt just said " I don't have any empty bottles but were 20 minutes from my home I'm sure you'll be fine ". Kayla just sat their with her legs crossed and shaking and then BAM there was a huge traffic jam. Kayla was horrified that she might not make it and said " **** ". Britt just said " don't worry it'll only be 5 minutes ".

10 minutes had passed now and traffic was at a stand still. Kayla was squirming in her jeans and was violently shaking her legs and had her hand in her crotch trying desperately not to wet her jeans. Britt looked nervously at Kayla and said " Kayla you'll make it don't worry and please not in here I bought this car with my own money and I don't want to have to change the seats ". Suddenly a shot of pee escaped and Kayla had a small wet patch on her white jeans. Britt looked back at Kayla and saw her eyes watering up and violently shaking with her hands rammed into her crotch and her legs tightly crossed. Kayla said sadly " Britt another spurt came out the rest isn't to far behind " Britt said " Kayla please anywhere but my car". Kayla then screamed " I'm peeing " Britt yelled " my seats, please Kayla do something hurry ". Kayla threw open the door and jumped out but couldn't get anywhere because the cars were so close together. The pee began coming out like a flood, pee streaks ran down the front of her white skinnies and a massive patch appeared on her butt as she peed for a whole minute straight. People in the traffic jam saw this and were laughing their asses off. Kayla got back in the car and Britt put a towel on her seat and told her " Kayla don't let this get to you when we get to my house I'll let you use my washer and clean yourself up ". She hugged Kayla and they drove to Britt's house and Kayla washed her jeans and showered. When she came out a guy from her school was their. He said "Kayla I always liked you and heard you were gonna be here today because Britt told me. I even saw Britt put your clothes in the washer and knew what happened. But I still wanna ask you out on a date on Saturday night because no matter what happens I wanna be with you. Kayla's horrible day suddenly became great and she screamed with delight and smiled as they hugged. This would be a day she would remember :)

What garden hose for a high pressure nozzle?

pressure washer vs power washer image

Steven

I plan to buy a high pressure 250psi spray nozzle which I will put a link in the end. But I want to know if I bought only a 5/8 inch hose, will that limit the water pressure. I just went to the store and saw that 5/8 inch hose is actually quite thin haha. Should I cancel my order and buy a bigger 3/4 inch hose or is the 5/8 inch just fine? Thans

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015AUOSC?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links

Answer
Most household water pressure falls between 60 -80 PSi, with some getting as high as 100 PSI.
Unless you have an unusually high pressure pump or supply source, virtually all common GHT nozzles will handle your service.

Garden Hose is usually rated for between 150 PSI and 250 PSI Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP).

There are commercial hose products that utilize long shank commercial GHT (Garden Hose Thread) couplings that might be able to exceed 250 PSI MAWP, but would not be likely to be found in your situation.

There are special nozzles, used in the Fire Equipment Industry, that are capable of handling higher pressures, but these are so expensive as to be absurd for your use.

You cannot get more pressure out of the system than goes into it.
When you restrict the flow at the nozzle outlet, by using a smaller orifice (outlet hole) you minimize the pressure drop that occurs and you will have the effect of more force, but at the expense of REDUCED FLOW.

Dixon Valve's "Adjust-a-Power" Nozzle is used by forest firefighters to achieve better reach and minimize water usage. It is also widely used as a "sweeper" nozzle for removing debris.

http://www.dixonvalve.com/search/?searchâ¦

Short of getting a real pressure washer, or getting a special nozzle that requires an air compressor to boost the pressure from you hose, this is the best thing for "hitting" power, but it will not let you put out the volume of water a regular Garden hose nozzle will.

Nelson is a fine company, however realize that the "300% more water flow than a standard nozzle" is ONLY possible when you have the 250 PSI pressure at the nozzle inlet. The increase is mostly due to the higher flow rate at 250 PSI vs 100 PSI.

Putting a high volume nozzle on a smaller diameter hose will somewhat starve the nozzle, resulting in a reduced outlet pressure, and "hitting" power of the stream.

If a high flow rate is your requirement then you should go with the 3/4" Hose.

If you opt for a lower volume nozzle then the 5/8" hose might suffice.

Make sure which ever hose you get is rated for the applications working pressure.

Steam washer vs traditional high pressure washer ?

I'm planning on doing mobile car washing in Los Angeles ca but don't know if to go with the steamer washer or high pressure water.. Will going with the steamer caused swirls?? Or it's safe if properly use? So tell me go with the traditional high pressure washer or steam cleaner??

Answer
One thing you might want to look at is the price difference, pressure washers are pretty cheap and steam cleaners need a way to heat the water, I guess you would probably be using propane and that set up is not cheap at all, Do you really need steam to wash a car?most guys I see just use gas powered pressure washers I pay a guy 20.00 and he does a great job, good luck with your biz

Coleman pressure washer- Anybody have non-working one? I need a pump part?

coleman pressure washer no pressure on Briggs Stratton Pressure Washer Parts | Parts for Pressure Washer
coleman pressure washer no pressure image

Old enough

Coleman no longer makes pressure washers. I broke a very small part off my pump. Before you send your broken washer to the dump, I would be happy to buy just this piece I need or your entire non-working pressure washer if you are close to SF Bay area. Mine is the 4hp model but I believe all the pumps were the same.
I erred in my original post. The part I need is for the water distribution manifold (adjusting screw) and not the pump. The pump works fine and there is no mfg name on it so it must be proprietary.

Answer
the pump was NOT made by Coleman. there should be a manufacturers name on the pump. contact Coleman and see if they can give you the name of the manufacturer of the water distributation manifold.

whats a good pressure washer for residential use . siding ,decks, driveways, etc. thanks

Answer
Sears, Lowes, and Tractor Supply are all good places to buy Pressure Washers.

Be careful of the Coleman PW's in Lowes. They are made in China and are basically junk.

2000-2500 PSI should be enough to handle almost any job.

Lowes does carry Honda powered PW's, but the Briggs and Stratton powered PW's are much cheapier with almost un-noticable quality differences.

I have a 55 gl. blue plastic drum that i want to use as a tank to supply my water to a electricpressure washer?

pressure washer fittings on Pressure Washer Accessories: Nozzles and Wands and Brushes, OH MY!
pressure washer fittings image

Carlos

I have a blue plastic, 55 gallon, drum that I want to use to supply my electric pressure washer. I want to open a 3/4 hole and put a fitting where I'll be able to put a hose connecting it to the electric pressure washer thereby being able to use the pressure washer anywhere. What type of plastic glue or cement should I use?

Answer
Pressure washers are designed to receive input water at a pressure of 25 - 60 psi or more. They are not designed to "suck". Even with the drum full, the head will not create more than about 10 psi and as water is removed from the drum, pressure will drop to near 0 psi. My best estimate is that this arrangement will burn out your pressure washer very quickly.

But if you insist, many drums have one hole already threaded to take a 3/4" pipe fitting. Simply buy a threaded hose bib (faucet) and thread it in. If your drum is the kind with two larger lids, buy one or more reducing fittings in the plumbing department to sleeve the size down to a standard threaded hose-bib. As an alternative, bore a hole in one of the lids and install your hose-bib in the hole using a rubber washer on the outside with a stainless steel washer and nut on the inside.

Once you have your faucet installed, lay the drum on its side on a trailer or an improvised "stone boat" you can pull to your location. The faucet, of course, must be on the bottom.

If you're really willing to put your pressure washer at risk on this rig, you can reduce the risk by installing in the other lid a pipe nipple and tee. On one side of the tee install a snifter valve (like a tire valve) . On the other side of the tee, install a pressure guage. When you want to use the rig, fill the drum only 1/2 full of water and use an air compressor to jack the pressure in the drum up to about 80 psi. Then you can safely pressure wash 'til the pressure on the guage drops to about 25 psi.

If that doesn't give you enough wash time, plumb a second drum (or a pressure tank) in parallel with the water tank. Then you can fill your original drum with water and the second with air.

But wouldn't it be easier to just add an extra 50 feet or so of pressure line? Since you have an electric pressure pump you must be running power to it. Anything more than about 100 ft. of extension cord is likely to cause the pump motor to over heat.

Good luck,
Honey-Lee

Is there any way to fix a leak in a pressure washer hose?

George

I was using my pressure washer and managed to get the hose against the engine for about two seconds and it blew a hole in the hose. This is the second time this has happened. I really hate to buy another hose if there is a way this one can be fixed.

Does anyone know a way to fix this without replacing the hose?

Thanks,

Answer
Pressure Washers operate at HIGH PRESSURE and any leaks from the hose can therefore be DANGEROUS!!! A small hole in such, can act much like a scaple.

Depending on the pressure of the system it could even be LIFE THREATENINGLY DANGEROUS!!!

Have the hose repaired by an AUTHORIZED dealer for the specific brand of hose you have.
IF the hose can be repaired, they will be able to tell you how it can best be done to meet your needs.

The two possible options are a mender (a single fittings that permanently joins two hose ends, to achieve a single length of hose) and a new set of couplings (Mating couplings that effectively create TWO shorter lengths of hose).

*** No other forms of repair will be able to withstand the pressures involved. ***

If this is the SECOND time this has happened to you, it would seem prudent to place some sort of shield over the engine to keep the hose away from it without reducing the cooling effect of the exposure needed by the engine, or employ some sort of retaining device to keep the hose away from the engine.
