If I purchased an item with a credit card at Walmart 1 year ago, how do I get the original receipt?

pressure washer walmart on ... Electric Pressure Washer Replacement O-Ring Kit: Tools : Walmart.com

Dinosaur

I need to return a pressure washer for warranty, but the manufacturer needs either the original receipt or the credit card statement. Only problem is that I forgot around what month last year the item was purchased. I called Walmart and they said they would not be able to locate it without knowing an exact date. I called the local Walmart store where I bought it and they said they can only go back 1 month. Other retailers seem to be more helpful in these cases because I didn't know the date of purchase of an item and they found it just by me telling them what item I purchased from them. What else can I try?
I contacted the credit card company, but the other issue is this. I paid with cash ( I believe) when I purchased the item and put the rst on my credit card so when the copies of the credit card statements arrived it was still very hard to determine what month I purchased the item from Walmart. I thought if I called Walmart's credit dept. and told them what I bought they could find it, but they told me they can't....weird.

Answer
contact the bank that holds the credit card you used and ask them to send you a copy of the card statements for the months that you might have bought the washer in. for instance if you can narrow it down to april or may of last year then tell the bank that those are the years that you need. you may have to pay for the statements depending on the bank you use but at least you will have the exact date of the purchase, and can then get the reciept if you still need it from walmart.

What kind of soap fluid does a Husky Power washer need?

dvls2007

I have a gasoline Husky pressure washer. What type of soap fluid do I need? Model number is HU80432A.

Answer
The user manual says "Use only detergents designed for pressure washers; household detergents, acids, alkalines, bleaches, solvents, flammable material, or industrial grade solutions can damage the pump. Many detergents may require mixing prior to use. Prepare cleaning solution as instructed on the solution bottle."

Searches at a few web sites for pressure washer soap returns hits. Home DePeau has a 'packet' thingie that looks like it'd get pretty expensive if you need much. Walmart has a few options.

The main intent of this is that you don't use any solvents, acids. alkalines, bleaches that might damage the *pump*.

Since this is the kind of thing that you're going to be blowing soap all over the landscape I'm a big fan of Simple Green and other environment-friendly biodegradeables, so I looked that up too. The first URL below has a whoooole page of SG FAQ, including power washer. See that for details about dilution, eye protection, and watering lawn afterward to push the residue into the ground.

Ahhhh, the simplegreen.com site says they have a pressure washer specific cleaner. Doesn't say what's 'different' about it though. There's a FAQ page that says "Pressure Washers & Power Washers â Are Simple Green® products pressure washer safe? Simple Green is pressure washer safe. Simple Green also offers products specifically designed for use in pressure washers. These pressure washer concentrates can be located on the Products page of the Simple Green website.

The third URL is a press release. Actually they have a whole *line* of pressure washer specific stuff for different purposes. But again they don't really say what's 'different.' Unless they say something specific, it's all marketing-speak to me designed to sell more stuff. YMMV.

what are the main tips to remember when power washing a house?

pressure washer injuries on cleaning with pressure washerswith pressure washers pressure washer ...
pressure washer injuries image

Ed C

Answer
- Always wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from splashback or accidental direct spray.

- Make sure all windows are closed tightly.

- Turn off the power to light fixtures and electrical outlets at your home's main service panel. Cover them with plastic bags or film secured with duct tape.

- Place drop cloths over plants and shrubs. Move lawn furniture away.

- If it's windy, don't wash.

- Keep the nozzle 10 to 12 inches from the surface, at about a 45-degree angle.

- Use extra caution when cleaning aluminum or steel siding. A power washer can bend sections - even blow them right off the house.

- Windows can break if you spray directly at them.

- Don't spray under the laps of horizontal siding; it can lift them. And don't spray directly into crawl spaces or gable-end vents.

- Don't let children operate a power washer.

- When it's operating, never put your hand near the tip of the wand or aim it at a person or animal. The water will penetrate and cause severe injury.

- Keep at least 10 feet from any power lines.

You'll be working with a lot of water pressure but with a little practice you should be able to control the wand. Keep in mind that a telescoping wand - which you'll need to reach higher floors - can kick back 3 to 4 feet each time you depress the handle.

You will probably tire from fighting the water pressure. When you do, take a break.

Is there any way of stablilizing a tree with a crack running up it's trunk?

Count DiMe

It is a large tree and I do not want to resort to cutting it down, any suggestions would be appreciated

Answer
I remember a maple tree across the street from us that was split right down the middle from lightening. My neighbor did not want to lose the tree, so many of us neighbors gathered together what we could to help save the tree:
We got the longest bolt, washers & nut we could find, some chain, & straps & got to work.

With the straps, winch together the tree as tight as you can get it.
Drill a hole right thru the middle of the tree & install the very long bolt with a wide washer through it. Attach a washer & nut on the other side. Wrap the tree very tight with the chain just above the bolted area to keep the pressure off the bolt. Remove the strap, but leave the chain. The tree will heal around the bolt, around the chain & mend the crack.

If the crack is due to an injury, it will absorb the hardware within itself.
If the tree is split due to disease, be sure to treat the sick tree, then perform the surgery after.

That maple tree lived for 30 plus years after it was bolted & chained back together. You couldn't even tell where the chain or bolt was!

How do I remove moss from my moss rock waterfall?

JorgeandSe

Hello - We are in the process of having an inground pool installed. We have moss rock all around the back of the pool as well as a few waterfalls. How can I remove the moss and prevent it from coming back? Is there a particular sealer I can use to make it look wet and protect from moss growing on it? I like the look of the rock, just don't feel like dealing with the moss. At this point, I can't change the rock, so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
My husband just removed it with his pressure washer. Any suggestions for how to prevent it from coming back? Also is there a sealer I can use to give it the wet look?

Answer
Pressure washer is the best way to remove it. Get a pint can of polyurethane sealant, like for decopage, and see how you like that look, clear coat spray paint too I guess.

ol'E, I don't have any answers for you but, have you done much power washing before? It's hard work. I know I wouldn't want to do it for a living. Just yesterday, I rented a power washer and cleaned all the brick & concrete in the front yard & around both sides of my dad's house. It took me 7 hours & by the time I was done, my booty was thoroughly kicked. It looks great though. (LOL) Good luck.

I have a Craftsman 2550 PSI pressure washer. I need to replace the "hose tail kit". This is the part that you attach the suction hose to for the detergent. My problem is upon receiving the replacement part I have found that I don't know what order to assemble the parts. There is a new "valve" but it came with a small spring, metal ball, and a washer. Does anyone know in what order these parts go?

Answer
You should be able to download a diagram from craftsman.com and see for sure how to assemble.

If I have to guess it sounds like you should the valve should go on the outside followed by the washer, ball, and spring. It is essentially creating a check valve inline so that it can only suck up the detergent and it won't put water back into that bucket.

Can I use my pressure washer to remove paint from concrete porch steps?

Mick_man

Craftsman 2550 psi pressure washer - 6.5 HP.
Nozzle is adjustable - High Pressure or Low Pressure plus
Stream or Fan.

There are two coats of paint on the concrete.
Latex - Light Brown paint with Green (unknown paint type) underneath.

I have accidentally removed paint on otyher materials but never tried intentionally removing all paint from a concrete surface. Can I do this? Should I use some sort of solvent/cleaner in conjunction with the washer?

Thanks!

Answer
That thing will almost blast anything off,try it most likely it will work,my neighbor just used one around his house and it took of old grass carpet that they use to put on outside steps. So try it you have nothing to lose except your paint lol You can also try a hard wire brush to help the process. By the way 2550 psi is alot so id say you have a good chance at it.

What good is a surface cleaner for a pressure washer?

pressure washer motor image

Miles bobb

So I am new to pressure washing and I had some questions! I have seen a thing called a surface cleaner and it looks like it does the same work a pressure washer does but just easier and faster! Will you explain the difference between normal pressure washing and a surface cleaner?

Answer
When you say "surface cleaner", I assume you're referring to a device that hooks up to a garden hose, not a chemical treatment.

A surface cleaner can only deliver water at your water line's pressure. This should be between 40 and 80 psi (pounds per square inch).

A pressure washer has an internal, electrically operated motor and pump which delivers water at around 10 atmospheres (1500 psi).

A pressure washer will clean grime off that a "surface cleaner" won't. If all you have to clean is superficial dirt and debris, a surface cleaner should work just fine.

If however, you have embedded dirt debris, or moss, a pressure washer is what you need.

NOTE: Be careful what you use a pressure washer on. It can damage some surfaces and remove paint.

Is it ok to run a Craftsman gas powered pressure washer in the rain?

ed g

Just bought a Craftsman pressure washer. Gas powered. Briggs & Stratton engine. I believe it's a 190cc. Using it on a huge fence and deck. Forecast is for rain for the next few days. Really want to get the job done. Rain doesn't bother me, but is it bad for the motor?

Answer
The heat produced from the device running is enough to evaporate any moisture it comes in contact with, ie, light rain storm, inadvertant spray.

Can you use a pressure washer if you have low water pressure in your home?

I want to get a pressure washer to use in cleaning the front porch, driveway, and siding of my home, but my house has low water pressure. Would a pressure washer still work in this situation? I guess I don't know how a pressure washer works - I assume it's hooked up to a hose on the house??? Thanks.

Answer
It really depends on what you call low. If its too low the pressure washer will 'hunt' or surge up and down on the outlet pressure and will eventually damage the washer unit. Your guess is correct it is hooked up with a hose to the house and a very long hose of too small a size will have the same effect as low water pressure. Check with manufacturers instructions or seek advise from the supplier but I would hazard a guess you need about 18/22 psi minimum.

Why I have no pressure on my pressure washer?

Ken H

My pressure washer starts quickly, runs good, but my pressure stopped. Hoses not clogged, have water coming thru wand, but no pressure. How do I fix this?

Answer
If you've ever run the pump without water pressure being on it then you can suck the seals loose. Sometimes they will reseat, other times not.

When you last used it - if it was last year, before winter, and you didn't winterize it the seals may have dried out. Just about all hardware stores carry a seal conditioner for pressure pumps. It lubricates and conditions the seals while also removing water from the pump so if the weather freezes you don't crack the pump housing. I've bought many pressure washers that have experienced this problem. People in my area fail to winterize their pumps and end up with junk. They still have a good engine on them, but the pump must be replaced.

With your pump, check for leaks. If it's not leaking anywhere then that's a good sign. There is a pressure regulator on the outlet side that when there is sufficient pressure the high pressure water is diverted back to the inlet side. That's so the pump doesn't stall the engine or blow the hose.

CAUTION: IF YOU MESS WITH THAT SETTING YOU CAN DAMAGE THE PUMP OR EVEN DAMAGE YOURSELF. YES, YOU CAN GET HURT IF IT'S NOT DONE RIGHT. If you DO remove it, make sure you carefully count the number of turns to put it back exactly as it was before you took it off. There MIGHT be soap residue keeping the pump from building high pressure. The water can be going in circles.

There's a lot to pressure washers you wouldn't think of. These are just a few possibilities.

Best of luck with your project. AND BE CAREFUL.

Answer
For cleaning outside the gutters, the high pressure washer will do the job. I live in Guam where its very humid and mold is a constant problem. The pressure washer handles the job.

Once in a while I use some simple green. I soak the area down, saturate it with simple green, scrub it with a fox tail or puch broom, then pressure wash it. Simple green is biodegradable and does not hurt the environment and it actually works very well.

Good luck

Answer
using a non toxic detergent will help with any runoff.dont get to close or use a tip that has to much pressure or you will make a hole in the siding.depending how old and brittle the siding is will determine what tip to use.the north side may have algae and/or fungus and the south side may be more brittle due to exposure to the sun.you will have to take your time .start from the top and work down.good luck

Answer
doesn't sound hot enough to be a problem for the washer if it has a brass pump, but that is hot enough to scald someone - a mixer valve were you could temper the water would be safer

Answer
Sears, Lowes, and Tractor Supply are all good places to buy Pressure Washers.

Be careful of the Coleman PW's in Lowes. They are made in China and are basically junk.

2000-2500 PSI should be enough to handle almost any job.

Lowes does carry Honda powered PW's, but the Briggs and Stratton powered PW's are much cheapier with almost un-noticable quality differences.

Pressure washer doesn't always shoot full power when trigger pressed.?

pressure washer karcher manual image

Dave S

We have a Karcher 2400psi, (5HP Honda engine) pressure washer. When we press the trigger it doesn't always shoot full power...the engine tends to try to rev over and over somewhat like it's idling. Sometimes it will shoot full pressure as soon as the trigger is pressed, other times it can take between 10 seconds and 1 minute to get it going. Once it does shoot water out at full pressure thought the engine will rev up at a higher steady speed which seems normal.

We have had this issue since day 1 and it's really starting to annoy us.
The pressure on the mains of our house is more than enough so we think it might be the valve on the trigger.

Any ideas on what's happening here?
Any suggestions on fixes?

Thanks

Answer
I think you need to refer to the owners instruction manual for causes and cures.

Answer
it might need a larger size inlet hose to provide more water flow. if you are using an extension cord on it the wire gauge is not large enough.

Can you use a pressure washer attachment on a regular water hose or is the high-pressure machine needed?

Willing2Wo

My needs are modest. I simply want to do things like reach some high spots on my house to get rid of spider webs, or light dirt.

Answer
By an attachment I assume you mean the WAND and SPRAY TIP for the end of the hose.

The distance the water travels and the force that it cleans with are directly related to the PRESSURE, as is the volume of water that discharged.

If you reduce the pressure to that of a Garden Hose Spigot on your house your reach is correspondingly reduced.

The bigger issue for you is that the Pressure Washer Wand does not have the same threaded connections as a Garden Hose, and some do not have common connections.

If you are not prepared to purchase even the lower pressure range household pressure washers, sold by people like Home Depot or Walmart for as little as $85.00, then you might want to try a Lower cost alternative to a Pressure Washer Wand first.

There are Garden Hose WATERING Wands, up to 48" long, with Female Garden Hose Thread on the inlet and Male GHT on the outlet.
You can also buy short SWEEPER nozzles with GHT that have a small diameter outlet that concentrate the flow and maintain the pressure in the line. This works like when you were a kid squezzing off the flow at the end of the hose with your thumb and the water shoots farther, or in simple terms restict the flow and the water pressure behind it increases (up to a point).

I have seen these in Garden Supply stores, Hardware Stores (seasonally) and Home Supply stores, like Lowes and Home Depot (seasonally).

Another nozzle that can restrict the flow even further is an Adjust-a-Power Nozzle, which is a short twist nozzle that has an interior rubber tube pinched by bearings to create a finer stream with the most hitting force and reach possible from the 100 PSI or less available from your household water supply.

Keep in mind that the smaller the nozzle orifice the smaller the flow rate, at a given pressure, and if it is the volume of water you are depending on to do the cleaning, you may take a while.

If you go the route of a traditional Pressure Washer Wand and tip, you will need to make sure you get an adapter (or a series of adapters) to convert to the thread needed for the inlet connection on the Pressure Washer Wand. That done you are again limited by the 100 PSI or less available from your household water supply.

Good Luck

There is no easy way to remove sound paint (but why would you want to?). If you want to remove loose paint to prepare for painting, use a pressure washer. You want a gasoline powered one, not electric. About a 13hp engine, delivering about 5 gal./min. @ 3000 psi. You can rent these. These are dangerous, get instruction from the rental place. Do not use the 0 deg (red) tip; it will destroy your stucco.

Answer
This is a toughie. If it was oil-base paint, try some lacquer thinner on it, covered with a plastic tarp for several hours. It then might be scrubbable off with a towel dipped in the lacquer thinner.

Or try something like 3M "Safest Stripper", a not too toxic paint stripper.

Worst case you'll have to rent a sandblaster.

How do I remove a security tag that was left on my sweater by accident?

olivia

The other day it was my birthday My friend bought me an abercrombie & fitch, but she didnt give me the receipt and they left the plastic security tag on it . I asked if I could have the receipt, but she lost it. Its not one of them ink tags, so is there anyway I can remove the tag without damaging it?

Answer
Well, Of all the advice I heard on hear, none really sounded right. I've had to remove them twice. Once for my sister in law, and once for my wife. These things are real buggers to remove. If you really want it off there are several options.

(A) Take it back, which pretty well everyone has suggested so far.
(B) wear something to cover it up. (not suggested)
(C) Take the tag off.

I've had to take several of the tags off, and there are different models. Some are trickier than others. But the easy way to see inside to find out what will work best is to take a lighter, (any lighter will do) and melt some of the plastic off the cap (the little bump in the tag right above where the two halves of the tag connect). Now depending on the model is how you proceed.

Some use a ball bearing and spring to cause the spring to pressure the glass vials to break, thus spilling the ink. There is also the method of having a metal washer beneath the vials and any undo pressure will pull the washer into the vials causing them to break and spill their load.

Now for how to proceed. The ball bearing one is the easiest, and easiest to spot. Look for a spring once the cap is melted off. That's how you spot it. If this is your model, just use the lighter to melt the plastic on the inside near the connection point. This will allow you to pull the melting plastic apart as easily as pulling cheese off a pizza. Mmmm. After that, you're scott free!

Ok. So the alternate method is a bit more of a headache. You can either do a controlled break, (easier but possibly messier and a chance of staining shirt), or you can snip the connecting rod.

To do a controlled break you must first melt off the top surface in order to see the placement of the vials. After that tape over the openings on the underside of the top half. Then use a plastic surface (a ziploc will do) to place in between the halves. make sure to have them close to the center. After that go outside and take a screwdriver, knife, or some other pointy object, and break the vials while holding the clothing upside down. Ink will spatter over the ground. But you're not done yet. Take some paper towels and soak up as much ink from the inside of the tag as you can. AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. Then you can flip it over and pull the tags apart without worrying if the ink will spill onto the clothing.

To snip the rod you will need a very sharp small scissors. If possible you could use hair clipping scissors. Insert the scissors in between the two halves and put some major force into literally cutting the connecting rod. It will snap off and then the two halves will be separated.

My last piece of advice is to not just to try and pull them apart. If you do, chance are the ink will burst. This is the most common thing people try to remove them, and therefore is the most guarded against.
