my dish dish washer wont power on and it needs to be drained (it stinks) how can I manually drain it?

crenshawt4

my garbage disposal also stopped working ( has been about a year now)and I believe the drain, pipes or something is plugged up. do yo need a garbage disposal in order to have a dishwasher?

Answer
a quick way just siphon it out ,get a length of hose ,fill it with water ,get a bucket ,place one end of hose deep as you can in the water ,of the dish washer ,but block the other end of the hose with your thumb ,don't let air in,keep thumb on hose and place it down-low in the bucket,on the floor lower than the area you want to drain.keep the hose in the dish washer under water the whole time, and release your thumb, water should run down-hill into the bucket.
your dishwasher's drain is probably connected to the garbage disposal, the hose is attached by a regular hose clamp,go get your bucket, and a screw driver, and probably a flashlight.if the disposal hasn't worked for a while, the line is probably stopped up,loosen the clamp holding the hose and twist and pull till the hose comes off(bucket ready?) water might try draining out of dishwasher.have someone ready to help you if the bucket gets full, raise the hose high as you can till the water stops ,empty the bucket and keep doing this till completely drained.poke out the hole in the garbage disposal with the screw driver, clean as well as possible. if you get it clear you can re-attach the hose ,if you check on the bottom of the disposal there might be a bolt to turn the rotor, use a wrench and move it a bit at a time back and forth it should loosen a bit but depending on how bad it is(damaged or just stopped up) you might pour some cooking oil into the drain that might lubricate it some.if you get it to turn kind of easy you might get it to run, breaker has probably kicked look for a little red button on the bottom or side of the unit, and push to reset,if it tries to turn but slow turn off quickly and and work it more if you persist you might get it going. there is probably a pressure switch in the dishwasher that will reset itself after the clog is removed, and so operate normally. as long as you keep the line clear it can operate without the disposal......tom

I have a Pressure Washer with a 13hp Honda Engine that has lost hose pressuer for some reason.?

alaguy757

I was using this pressure washer yesterday and it suddenly went from about 3800 psi to about 1100 psi. The engine and voulume of water are not an issue. Can you give me some guidance on what it could be. Thank You

Answer
Check for a plugged hose or nozzle. You must have a pressure regulator see what it looks like. You might have picked up a piece of dirt. And it is stuck in an orifice some where in system. There must be some kind of restriction some where in the system.

Pressure Washers: HONDA vs. BRIGGS & STRATTON engine?

Orion

I am considering buying a pressure washer.
My uses: cars, decks, siding, and concrete/brick walkways.
Honda engine: 160 cc, 2600 max psi, 2.3 max gpm. ($339)
VS.
Briggs & Stratton engine: 175 cc, 2700 max psi, 2.3 max gpm. ($299)

As you can see, my dilema is trying to justify paying for a more expensive Honda engine that has less power ratings.

Which should I buy? and most importantly...why?

Answer
I have a Honda pressure washer,it has been in regular use for several years, without any trouble.

Is there a such thing as an air-compressor powered pressure washer?

';l'lk

I have a 40 HP 125 cfm 125 psi compressor. I need a pressure washer for some roofing. Is there a pressure washer that takes air to push the water compressor?

Answer
I have not seen a ready made air powered pressure washer. You could adapt an air motor to drive the water pump. Check that! I looked at a few air motors. For the cost, horsepower and air requirements, you would be better off to either buy or rent a gas powered pressure washer.

Pressure washer into air compressor?

Bobby C

I have a husky powerwasher. I need to fill up a boating tube. Is there anyway to turn the husky powerwasher into an air compressor

Answer
Well let me think, should only take a pressure tank of at least 2 1/2 gallons of air, an air compressor, a pressure relief valve, a regulator, various tubes and fittings, sure it is do able. But why not just go and buy one, it will be a lot cheaper. Except for maybe the motor and the frame and wheels, pretty much everything else will have to be replaced.

Well pump is loud and pressure drops?

Q. We bought a house last year and this is our first dealings with well water and septic tanks. Our pump is in the basement (may be original to the 1960's house) and after the water runs for a couple minutes, it cycles on and it is CRAZY loud. Also, when it kicks on, there goes the pressure. Pray that you're the first one to take a shower in the morning. What could the problem be, and how much would it typically cost to fix this (Michigan)? We just installed our clothes washer, and the rinse cycle is taking forever and I fear with the pump on continuously our electric bill is going to go through the roof!
The tank looks original and the StaRite PumpTrol on top looks newer, model SNC-1. The water pressure in the rest of the house has dropped to literally just a trickle since I started the very first load of laundry a few minutes ago.

Answer
Depending on the type of pump you have it sounds like it definitely needs rebuilding at the very least, (like a new impellar, maybe new motor bearings, etc.), or replacement with new. As for the drop in pressure, it's most likely set to cycle on at a 20 lb. pressure and off at 40 lb. That may be ok if it has to kick on to fill the toilet tank at 20 lb., but when you're in the shower it's hardly enough water to rinse off with. I'd address the pump issue first. Have an experienced well guy come check it out, pump, well and all. They can check the well to see if the point is plugged or partially plugged or maybe drawing air, and then make their recommendations. I'm also in MI, SW lower part. If you need more help or a recommendation of people to help email me.

i need to know how to operate an old anthony smimming pool pump system?

sportyfort

Answer
You say old, so I'm assuming this will be an Anthony Apollo. The tank will be stainless steel that's painted a horrible rusty brown colour and the pump will be bronze with an AO smith motor.
It's a DE filter. Inside there are a series of vertical grids coated with DE, when the system has been charged. You don't mention which size filter this is (there are 2 sizes) so I can't tell you how much DE you need to charge a recently cleaned set of grids. The Chrome coloured handle in front is used to change the direction of water flow, through the filter from water going through the DE then into the grids...to coming from inside the grids and blowing off the DE covering. When that handle is placed in the up position (filter turned off and twisting the handle counter clockwise and pulling up) and the pump restarted, and run for a few seconds, it is what is called doing a "bump". It gets rid of some DE and contaminants it's caught and expells it via the pipe at the bottom of that valve. Give it two cycles of the pump (5 seconds each) and return the hamdle to the normal position. You do a bump whenever the pressure on the filter is about 8 PSI over your normal operating, start up pressure. Bumping is only really effective once. If your pressure climbs again, it's time to clean off the grids. For this, use the bump handle again and instead of giving it two short run cycles, run the pump until you see very little DE comming out of the discharge hose. Turn off the pump and open the pressure guage releif valve at the top of the tank. This lets the water in the tank to drain out the discharge hose quicker. There is a half inch nut on a tank band around the middle of the filter. Take it and the band off. If the water is gone from inside the filter, you should only need to give the top half of the tank a little nudge to unseat it. Remove the top and set it aside. The tank O ring will need to be cleaned with a rag after you remove it. Inspect it for cracks and how flattened it's become. You may need to replace it and now is the time, not later.
The grids come out, by disengaging the latch at the back inside of the tank and wiggling the assembly up. Use a garden hose or a small pressure washer to rinse off the grids. Clean out the inside of the tank and let it drain through the discharge. Reassemble everything and tighten the tank band by alternatively tapping around the band with a rubber mallet and tightening the nut. When it's snug, put the bump valve back in the normal position (down and locked), prime the pump with water in the pump basket and start it up. When your pump is starting to deliver water, undo the pressure releif valve at the tank top a bit, to allow the trapped air an escape. When it spits water, close it.
Head over to your skimmer with your bag of DE. If this is a small filter, it takes 8 pounds of DE, if a large one, it takes 10. Charge the system by slowly pouring the DE into the skimmer. It will get deposited on the grids you just cleaned. That's what we want. You're done, when the required amount of DE has been used.
In most cases, you won't have to do this more than once in a season. If you get a lot of very fine debris in the pool, maybe twice.
Other than that, these filters pretty well run themsleves. Replacement parts are still relatively easy to get, although you may have to dig up an Anthony dealer close to you. They seem to becoming a rare breed. In my area anyway.
You likely have a timer hooked up, make sure you're getting at least 12 hours of run time per day and that the clock is set to the correct time. If you have a polaris, this is very important, as the polaris must be synched to the filter timer and only be running when the filter is. If it runs and the filter isn't, you'll burn the shaft seal on the polaris pump. If you have any other questions, just add the details and I'll try to help you.

Looking for higher pressure Windscreen washer pumps ?

Jon

ok most windscreen washer pumps are around 20 psi pressure or so... and work off 12v car battery.
Where can I find somethigng with a little more power ? say in the 40 to 100 psi range, that still runs off 12v battery ? (and is temperature rated to be inside car engine bay.)
I cant seem to find any specs on psi ratings for various pumps.

brand doesnt matter... just looking for a cheap small water pump, that can do a bit more than the usual car washer pump. enough to drive a nice mister nozzle

thx

Answer
no way is their pressure that high, they don't need to be, I'd say less than 5. Any apparent pressure is achieved by downsizing the nozzle size.
Check out something from another application with a large outlet that you might be able to downsize to achieve the same result.

troy belt pressure washer?

BETTY D

can anyone tell me what kind of oil to use and how much goes in?It's a 6.75 hp. 2850 psi 2.6 gpm.

Answer
Most pressure washer pumps take a 30 weight non-detergent oil. The motor takes a normal motor oil. You should be able to find non-detergent oil at an auto parts store. Hope this helps.

Task Force Pressure washer Wand help?

G

I bought this Task Force Pressure washer Model TF2000 about 3 years ago at Lowes. I tried taking it back to Lowes but they discontinued this product. The problem I am having is: the gun wand extension is split. So when I try to wash, a lot of water sprays all over the place.

I want to buy a new part but can't locate it. I found on Amazon (i left the link below)
"Pressure washer 80005 Universal Pressure Washer Extension Lance with Fan Nozzle"

http://www.amazon.com/Powerwasher-80005-Universal-Pressure-Extension/dp/B000EEQ9KW/ref=sr_1_13?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1338061743&sr=1-13

Will this work with my Task Force TF2000 Pressure Washer? A lot of the reviews say that it fits some, but not all.
Any help?

Thanks in advance.

Pressure Washer Trouble?

timetolear

I have the water hooked up to the pressure washer and the gun the water shoots out of hooked up as well. I started it up and the water that came out the gun was not as strong as it usually is. I am not sure what the problem is, I have run on and I have the lever towards the rabbit, and it has a full tank of gas. Anyone know what could be causing the gun not to shoot the water out with as much pressure?

Answer
From your description, you have a low priced pressure washer, probably 3 hp engine. There are two possible problems. The pressure relief valve may be leaking by or stuck partly open or the pump may be failing. The pressure relief valve is usually part of the pump, so either problem requires dismantling the pump assembly. Most of the low priced pressure washer pumps are "throw away," not worth repairing. You may be able to buy a replacement pump from the manufacturer, but the cost of the part and shipping is usually more than the washer is worth. Good luck.

I use my clothes washer and my kitchen sink fills with gunk and smelly water?

jggv7

I live in an older trailer and just moved in, I have no ideas and need to fix the problem soon, it stinks bad

Answer
You might have packed drain lines. Old grease and slim build up making the line smaller inside. This makes the large volume of water that comes out of the washer back up. If the washer and sink are real close together .... like the washer is on the a same wall. You might have something caught in a (Y) they share. A sock or something.

Unless you have a septic tank. Try a line opener you can poor down the line. both in the washer drain and kitchen.

If the mobile is on a septic don't use any drano type stuff. It will mess up the break down cycle in the tank. Don't use any of those pressure openers on an old system either. It could blow your pipes apart.

Also, drain lines have air vents. Usually the smell will go up there. This could mean there is something in it like a bird or a wasp hive.

Does it happen after a bath or a flushing?

Can you give more info about the problem.

Searching for users manual for coleman pressure washer model QL-3100G?

thegerbilg

Any help? The pressure wand sprays water out, but water then starts to leak out of the part where the handle connects to the wand shaft. Please help!
And yes, i did go to the website and searches for it, but noting came up.

Answer
I work on pressure washers for a living and see this daily! It's just an "O-Ring" has split and is allowing water to leak out. Find the o-ring that isn't an "O" but more of a "C" and replace it, problem solved! Sears has o-ring kits in the stores with several sizes of o-rings in it. Use the instructions included to select the right ring!

coleman/powermate pressure washer starts,quites,10-15 attempts then stays running, changed plug & checked carb?

Answer
I bet your not depressing the trigger on the gun handle when you start it are you? This makes them hard to start and will also ruin the seals in the pump..you always squeeeze the trigger and let the water flow for at least a minute to get all air out and keep holding the trigger while you start it , or it will start and bog down and die..you will decacipate the pump..IS this what is happening?

How to clean concrete WITHOUT a pressure washer?

smiles_ami

it is outside, it's rain & mildew stains. What solution would do the trick?

Answer
Since outside concrete stain is a mixture of mildew and dirt you need something for both.
You might try this formula recommended by the Louisiana Dept of Agriculture.
Per Gallon of Water
1/2 cup chlorine bleach
1/3 cup low suds detergent , such as clothes washing detergent
1/3 cup of TSP
Apply with broom or brush over the ares and let sit for 1 hour: then hose off using a strong hose nozzle. This should remove most of the problem. You can repeat.if needed.

NOTE: If possible use industrial (heavy duty)bleach (from Home Depot, Lowe's etc)

TSP(tri sodium phosphate) is hard to find since many phosphate cleaners are no
longer available."TSP Cleaner"(no phosphate) is is not the same as TSP..

The authentic TSP leaves a residue that inhibits mildew re growth. The best place
to look for TSP is at your neighborhood hardware store or maybe on the internet
or a cleaning supply outlet.

I am wanting to Buy an electric Pressure Washer.?

Is a Karcher at lowes or The Husky at home depot better.Give me pros and cons. Thanks

Answer
Since I am not sure what models you are considering I would just say I think more of Husky than Karcher.

But while you are at the store and making your decision, check on your maintenance options. Typically the hose is the first thing to go on these units. Is the hose on the unit you plan to buy replaceable? Does the store have replacement parts in stock, or do they just expect you to buy another unit when it dies?
