i cant figure it out, any one have helpfull suggetions?

Answer
Anyone attempting to work on their own vehicle should own a shop manual. Your question proves my point.
http://www.motocom.com/motorcycles/
--Drain the oil.
--Remove the right crankcase cover.
--Remove the 5 bolts, their springs and pressure plate.
--Remove the clutch plates.
--Pay special attention to the direction the metal discs are installed (there is a sharp edge on one side and a rounded edge on the other.
--There is a different size clutch plate that gets installed first with a spring.
--Soak the new clutch plates in oil (the same stuff you'll be using to fill the crankcase).
--Don't over tighten the 5 bolts (aluminum strips easily). The springs will act as lock washers.
--Clean the gasket surfaces of the engine and side cover until they look brand new.
--Install the side cover with a new gasket.
--If you're having problems lining up the oil pump gears, remove the pump from the cover so you can turn the shaft.
--Fill crankcase.

Back brakes sticking on 92 Yamaha Timberwolf.?

Nick

When i push on the brake pedal for the rear brakes the cable and spring pull the camshaft lever which push out the brakes. The problem is when i let off the pressure the lever stays stuck and i have to pry it back to its place. Does anyone know what i may have to replace hard to tell by looking, It could by the camshaft lever or one of the little parts that are hooked to it. Ne idea what to look for cause these parts arent cheap unless it's something small like washer, etc. I hope someone here has been thru this I appreciate it.

Answer
Not exactly positive what the setup is on your Timberwolf, but the first thing I'd look for, especially if the rear brakes are drum-type, would be a "return spring" or some such gizmo that is made to retract the brakes back to their default position. If it's too loose or missing altogether the rear brakes are not going to automatically retract once pressure has been applied.

Look in a parts manual at the dealer to see what components constitute the rear brake system and then check to make sure they're all present on your vehicle.

Pressure Washers. Gas or electric?

Belinda Z

I'm shopping for a power washer and I need some advice on which kind to choose. Can anyone tell me pros & cons of gas vs. electric?

I'll be using it for keeping the siding on my house clean, washing my car, sidewalks and deck.

Answer
I agree with Terry; there is a lot more to maintaining a gas pressure washer, not to mention the initial cost (much more expensive). For around 100 dollars you can buy an electric unit that will do all the tasks you mentioned.

pressure washer adjustable?

slapoutz

do they make adjustable psi pressure washers if so where can i get one i want a gas i know they make adjustable electric ones. i want a 2600-3500psi adjustable.

btw 2600 psi wont strip the paint off your car. but it wont clean your rims lol
so if i buy a 3500 psi power washer i can get a nozzle that can take the psi down to 2600 psi?

Answer
Generally you adjust the jet with either replacement nozzles or an adjustable nozzle. An adjustable pressure pump as compared to a fixed pressure pump is certainly going to add complexity and cost to the unit. Buy the higher PSI unit and add distance and wider nozzles to bring down pressure as neccessary to protect delicate surfaces.

Lost Black Soap Dispensing Nozzle for Pressure Washer?

Chet

I have a project coming up tomorrow to pressure wash a very large fence and lost the black chemical nozzle. I have been to 5 different stores with no luck. Is there anyway around this? Can I attach a slip lock fitting and plug it into the end of the wand and then screw in an adjustable nozzle to create more back pressure to dispense the soap? Where the tube fits into the pump it looks like a pressure ball fitting that would need pressure to open the flow. If this were to work I could only find a plastic slip lock fitting. Would this hold up to the pressure or do you think it would break sending my helper to his knees? Any jimmy rig ideas that would last a couple days of spraying? Thanks
I'm sorry missed the most important part!
It is a ExCell ZR2800. Here is a link to it.
http://www.ppe-pressure-washer-parts.com/zr2800-replacement-parts-repair-kits

Answer
It looks like I am a little late to answer your question at the current moment...however if you are looking to still purchase a replacement nozzle here's a great place to buy online: www.sunbritesupply.com

My fav place for my pressure washer.

The thing to know about the chemical injector is that they require a low pressure draw. Actually dropping the pressure is what causes the soap to be sucked up by the tube into the injector. A normal soap tip is a size 40 orifice. Find something close to that and you should be in business.

Well pump is loud and pressure drops?

Q. We bought a house last year and this is our first dealings with well water and septic tanks. Our pump is in the basement (may be original to the 1960's house) and after the water runs for a couple minutes, it cycles on and it is CRAZY loud. Also, when it kicks on, there goes the pressure. Pray that you're the first one to take a shower in the morning. What could the problem be, and how much would it typically cost to fix this (Michigan)? We just installed our clothes washer, and the rinse cycle is taking forever and I fear with the pump on continuously our electric bill is going to go through the roof!
The tank looks original and the StaRite PumpTrol on top looks newer, model SNC-1. The water pressure in the rest of the house has dropped to literally just a trickle since I started the very first load of laundry a few minutes ago.

Answer
Depending on the type of pump you have it sounds like it definitely needs rebuilding at the very least, (like a new impellar, maybe new motor bearings, etc.), or replacement with new. As for the drop in pressure, it's most likely set to cycle on at a 20 lb. pressure and off at 40 lb. That may be ok if it has to kick on to fill the toilet tank at 20 lb., but when you're in the shower it's hardly enough water to rinse off with. I'd address the pump issue first. Have an experienced well guy come check it out, pump, well and all. They can check the well to see if the point is plugged or partially plugged or maybe drawing air, and then make their recommendations. I'm also in MI, SW lower part. If you need more help or a recommendation of people to help email me.

Pressure Washer Problems?

Metisse

I have a Husky (gas) 2600 psi HU807720. It was working fine and then the next day I went to use it again and as soon as I turned it on, I had pressure for about 10 seconds then it went off and the Thermal Release Valve starts spraying out water and that was the end of pressure washing. What does this mean? I cannot locate a repair manual online and my basic owners manual is worthless. I am getting proper pressure from the faucet, the motor runs and initially the pressure loads. I talked my husband into letting me take off all of the little valves that we could locate but noting was blocked. I have thought it could be the pump but it does get pressure for a few seconds. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated?

Answer
Take the tip of the sprayer off and run it that way to see if you get a steady stream with the trigger pulled when starting it up. Release the trigger and then try again to see if the same stream comes out. If when you release the trigger and pull again and no pressure the relief valve is bad or something is stuck in it. Other issue is the nozzle was clogged and blow back into it. If the steam stays good while cycling the trigger you had something stuck in the hose that was clogging the nozzle.

how to unclog main drain with pressure washer?

Dave

Answer
You can build or buy a sewer jetter attachment for your pressure washer for less than $150. A sewer jetter is a thin, high-pressure hose with a jet nozzle that pulls the hose into the drain and breaks up the clog. With a sewer jetter you typically start from the main drain cleanout outside your home or in your basement, or from a drain opening such as an inlet under a sink that's upstream of the clog. Search online for "build or buy a pressure washer sewer jetter."

Please explain how pressure washer work and its pressure generating principle. How big psi can 12V can generate

adhikari_s

I am looking for a pressure pump(washer) that generates 1500-5000 psi applying 12V DC battery. How many batteries required ?
Can I buy such pumps in the market ? please give more information on it.

Answer
My pressure washer has a 5 horsepower motor and creates about 200 psi. The short answer is that car starter motors create 5 to 10 hp for a short while but get hot fast. One battery will do the job for a very short while. The easier way is to use an electric washer, convert the 12 vdc to 120vAC with an inverter and wash away. The amount of batteries will depend on how long you want to operate at high pressure. The more the better. Can you buy such a pump, sure, convert a small home electric unit. Another good source for this stuff is West Marine, check their website and they have a great tech staff and no I don't work there.

Car Pressure Washer Help..?

I am looking to buy a pressure washer for cleanin my car.I am only looking to use it for cleaning my car and nothing else really.I was wondering what would some people recommend? If they have bought a good one and its going strong,etc..

Im in ireland FYI..Not really looking to spend more than â¬120-â¬150 ish but want a good solid pressure washer for that price..Thanks

Answer
most car detailers would say a pressure washer will do more damage to your car paint than good
Perhaps it will be useful on like tires.

If you want to buy something to make your washing easier, you should look at a foam gun/cannon/lance instead.

pressure washers?

whats a good pressure washer for residential use . siding ,decks, driveways, etc. thanks

Answer
Sears, Lowes, and Tractor Supply are all good places to buy Pressure Washers.

Be careful of the Coleman PW's in Lowes. They are made in China and are basically junk.

2000-2500 PSI should be enough to handle almost any job.

Lowes does carry Honda powered PW's, but the Briggs and Stratton powered PW's are much cheapier with almost un-noticable quality differences.

Type of oil required for pressure washer pumps?

Al

I have a 3500 psi simpson pressure washer. Bought in 1997 but hardly used. What type of oil does the pressure pump requires? Although I did not use it more than 30 hours but the oil level seems to be low.
Thanks,

Answer
I use straight 30 weight, but the link below suggests a special blend for the manufacturers motor.

".... and made a visit to the local Napa Auto Parts store looking for oil. The guy told me to use 30 weight Non-Detergent oil. He said heâs worked with many a pressure washer and they all took the same oil."

Use JB Weld to fix electric pressure washer pump manifold?

Big Yoda

the manifold for the pump is cracked. will this product work? trying to save $30 from buying a new one. this is a 1600 psi washer.

Answer
Like one of the post mentioned - you didn't say if the manifold was plastic or metal.

If its plastic, try this - take 80-120 grit sandpaper and roughen the surface - you need a rough surface for the adhesive to "bite" to - the more surface the better. Get a fiberglass repair kit - one that has the fiberglass cloth and epoxy. Mix an appropriate amount of the resin, and put a thin coat on the roughened surface, and push in an appropriately sized piece of the glass cloth. Let it cure, then roughen it slightly and repeat with another layer. Two layers of this stuff should more than handle the pressure and keep the part together.

If its metal, use a Dremel with a grinding/cutting wheel to score a little bit on either side, and the use the JB weld. Extend it across at least 1/2" and let the stuff cure at least 24 hours - preferably longer. I've had this stuff on a lot of things, and as long as you get an appropriate thickness of the stuff, it'll hold metal together very, very well.

I am wanting to Buy an electric Pressure Washer.?

michael y

Is a Karcher at lowes or The Husky at home depot better.Give me pros and cons. Thanks

Answer
Since I am not sure what models you are considering I would just say I think more of Husky than Karcher.

But while you are at the store and making your decision, check on your maintenance options. Typically the hose is the first thing to go on these units. Is the hose on the unit you plan to buy replaceable? Does the store have replacement parts in stock, or do they just expect you to buy another unit when it dies?

How do you unfreeze a washer drain if you can't get to the pipe?

~* Garden

I started doing some laundry today, and when the washer went into the spin/ drain cycle water started coming out of the pipe. We've had below freezing temperatures for the last couple of days, and the pipe must have froze up partially.
I can't get to the pipes that are under the house, so how do I attempt to unfreeze this pipe so I can finish the wash that's in the washer?

Can I pour hot water down the drain?
I don't know what else I could do at this point, I don't want the pipe to freeze anymore, and I don't want a costly mess if the pipe breaks.

Answer
turn off the valve, take it off the washer, feed it into the drain, turn it back on. If you get water any water coming out of the hose, turn it up full blast. The pressure should melt and push the ice through. Pouring hot water would work if you pour it in and flush it back out constantly, but that would be a pain. Plus the washer is already hooked up to hot water, so if any water at all is coming through, just turn on the hot water once you unhook the hose and put it in the drain.

You need to get under your house and insulate the pipes so it doesn't happen again. If no water at all is coming out of the pipe, it is either already busted or you have to wait for it to thaw. In either case to minimize anymore freezing you need to insulate the pipes. Any hardware store (lowes, home depot) should have the insulation.

In the mean time, you can leave the hose in the drain and leave it dripping so it doesn't freeze again until you get some insulation for the pipes.

took fly wheel off wood ruff key looks great shaft looks good cleaned it all up put it back together
clutch engages and disengages fine took belt off spins freely hope thats good
any other suggestions thanks Don

Answer
Assuming the air filter is not totally clogged up: Often as not, you mow the long grass without walking through the area first. The children leave their toys lying about and you forgot to pick up that small concrete lump, or you forgot about that large protruding rock or tree stump. Then one day, BANG! You hit something and now the mower will not start, either it overheats and runs erratically, wont rev up and has little or no power, or is hard to start or refuses to start at all. What could be wrong?

This is a classic case of flywheel shear-pin (key-way) bent or broken. What is a shear-pin? Briggs & Stratton engines have a shear-pin that is a small ½ inch by 1/8 inch aluminum pin that protects the crankshaft from damage. The pin is located in a slot between the flywheel and the crankshaft. This shear-pin might be bent or broken and will need to be replaced.

You need to remove the covering (shroud) and the fuel tank. Next off comes the pull-cord assembly. This reveals the flywheel, held on by a large 15/16th nut. To remove this nut you need to keep the flywheel from turning. To do this you will need to secure the flywheel. Strap a good leather belt round the flywheel, and, allowing the buckle to rest against small block of wood against the ignition coil assembly (it works for me). Using a long breaker-bar with either a ½ or ¾ inch square set to fit the 15/16th socket to the flywheel nut. Have someone help you to hold the mower. Turn the nut and remove the nut. Do not loose the nut!

Next, you have to remove the flywheel itself. Here is the trick. You need to hire, beg, borrow, or, dare I say it, steal a large bearing a puller. Fit the three-legged puller over the flywheel. The flywheel is not going to come off easily without some assistance. Two things you can do here.
1)Now, with pressure on the flywheel, sharply tap the top of the puller.
2)Using a small blowlamp, heat the flywheel to expand the metal, and this helps the puller to remove the flywheel from the crankshaft. Either way works well. Remove the flywheel and you either will see the shear-pin attached to the crankshaftâs groove or stuck to the flywheel.

I am going to assume you have purchased a new (I always have two handy) shear-pin from your local small engine repair store. The will cost in the region of $2.50 and look rather expensive for what they are.

To clear any rust from the flywheel, polish the flywheel inner hole. Using some very fine (preferably used) emery cloth, clean the crankshaft. Using a gas soaked rag, wipe away all traces of emery dust from both the crankshaft and the flywheel. Rub a little grease on the crankshaft and then refit the flywheel, remembering to line up the crankshaft slot with the flywheel slot. Place the new shear-pin into the slot and, using a small punch, or if you donât have one, a long 4" nail comes in handy, tap the shear-pin down until it seats fully home.

Replace the nut and washer and tighten to 65 foot lbs. Refit all other removed items, and start he mower.
Happy mowing
