Lost Black Soap Dispensing Nozzle for Pressure Washer?

Chet

I have a project coming up tomorrow to pressure wash a very large fence and lost the black chemical nozzle. I have been to 5 different stores with no luck. Is there anyway around this? Can I attach a slip lock fitting and plug it into the end of the wand and then screw in an adjustable nozzle to create more back pressure to dispense the soap? Where the tube fits into the pump it looks like a pressure ball fitting that would need pressure to open the flow. If this were to work I could only find a plastic slip lock fitting. Would this hold up to the pressure or do you think it would break sending my helper to his knees? I put this in automotive because I thought it was more of a mechanical question. Any jimmy rig ideas that would last a couple days of spraying?
It is a ExCell ZR2800. Here is a link to it.

pressure washer hose leaking?

Mrs. Fuzzy

I have a Troy-Bilt pressure washer and the pressure hose has a leak about the size of a pin hole.. any fixes or will I need to get a new hose?? thank you

Answer
The leak will intensify. a temporary fix one can use is go to your home depot wal mart or lowes and get a spray can of leak stop. spray it on the pin hole allow to dry and use either duct tape or electrical tape and tightly wrap several wraps over the hole. Eventually though you will more than likely have to replace the hose.

Pressure washer overheating?

Brandon

I have a Troy-Bilt pressure washer with a Briggs & Stratton 675 series 190cc engine. After about 10-15 minutes of use, it starts to smell funny like its overheating (and I feel an excessive amout of heat radiating off the engine), and its starts running weird, like its low on fuel. I don't how the engines are cooled on these, I imagine they are similar to a lawn mower? What can I do to resolve this, or what should I check for clogs, leaks, etc.? Thanks

Answer
It could be doing this as the filter is blocked up and pushing muck through but can't get any water through hence burning the motor out, which causes over heating. Or parts of your pressure washer could have melted due to running longer hours than it is designed to.
Hope this helps as I have had similar problems in the past.

What is best gas powered pressure washer in the 3000-3500 PSI range?

icp_tcarri

Ive been trying to find the best gas powered pressure washer in the 3000-3500 psi range. Going to be used to regular home use but would like to have to option of having the extra power. I am willing to spend the extra money on a better unit or brand. Ive been looking at different brands, and i see generac keeps popping up as one of better units for money. i also read good things about rigid. its getting confusing.... I want it to last, i want a good brand, and i want some extra power? Any Help?
Would you consider this to be a Good - Very good pressure washer. For home use as well semi commercial. and good for that price range of 800.

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=203185011&storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_sku=203185011&ci_kw={keyword}&kwd={keyword}&cm_mmc=shopping-_-googleads-_-pla-_-203185011&ci_gpa=pla#.UH5TX4YsGSo

Answer
In general consumer grade equipment such as that sold at Home Depot or Walmart will not hold up as long as commercial equipment typically sold at an independent power equipment retailer. I would go to a lawnmower shop that sells commercial equipment and see what they have, the price is quite a bit higher but for regular home use you will almost always never have a problem with the unit for as long as you own it. Brands are pretty much irrelevant anymore in consumer grade because there have been so many company mergers. You can have one company like MTD making over 10 different brands. El cheapo pressure washers typically have Briggs or Tecumseh engines, I've been seeing many now with no-name Chinese engines on them, but good units almost always have Honda engines.

Can you use a pressure washer attachment on a regular water hose or is the high-pressure machine needed?

Willing2Wo

My needs are modest. I simply want to do things like reach some high spots on my house to get rid of spider webs, or light dirt.

Answer
By an attachment I assume you mean the WAND and SPRAY TIP for the end of the hose.

The distance the water travels and the force that it cleans with are directly related to the PRESSURE, as is the volume of water that discharged.

If you reduce the pressure to that of a Garden Hose Spigot on your house your reach is correspondingly reduced.

The bigger issue for you is that the Pressure Washer Wand does not have the same threaded connections as a Garden Hose, and some do not have common connections.

If you are not prepared to purchase even the lower pressure range household pressure washers, sold by people like Home Depot or Walmart for as little as $85.00, then you might want to try a Lower cost alternative to a Pressure Washer Wand first.

There are Garden Hose WATERING Wands, up to 48" long, with Female Garden Hose Thread on the inlet and Male GHT on the outlet.
You can also buy short SWEEPER nozzles with GHT that have a small diameter outlet that concentrate the flow and maintain the pressure in the line. This works like when you were a kid squezzing off the flow at the end of the hose with your thumb and the water shoots farther, or in simple terms restict the flow and the water pressure behind it increases (up to a point).

I have seen these in Garden Supply stores, Hardware Stores (seasonally) and Home Supply stores, like Lowes and Home Depot (seasonally).

Another nozzle that can restrict the flow even further is an Adjust-a-Power Nozzle, which is a short twist nozzle that has an interior rubber tube pinched by bearings to create a finer stream with the most hitting force and reach possible from the 100 PSI or less available from your household water supply.

Keep in mind that the smaller the nozzle orifice the smaller the flow rate, at a given pressure, and if it is the volume of water you are depending on to do the cleaning, you may take a while.

If you go the route of a traditional Pressure Washer Wand and tip, you will need to make sure you get an adapter (or a series of adapters) to convert to the thread needed for the inlet connection on the Pressure Washer Wand. That done you are again limited by the 100 PSI or less available from your household water supply.

Good Luck

why wont my electric pressure washer work?

Nathan

i turn it on and push test that dont work and i do the same with reset ive tryed both

Answer
Is the pressure washer power cord plugged into the wall outlet properly?

Has the "On-Off" switch or button on your machine been accidentally set to the "OFF" position?

Is there power in the wall outlet, or has a fuse blown or circuit breaker been tripped?

If a fuse has blown or circuit breaker tripped, replace the fuse or reset breaker. Your machine should now start.
If the fuse or breaker goes after you have replaced or reset, try plugging your machine into a different outlet.
An electric washer requires a good supply of power with no other high amperage draw appliances running on the same circuit.
High amperage appliances such as refrigerators, coffee machines, heaters, motors, etc. running on the same circuit as your pressure washer will cause fuses to blow or breakers to trip.

Pressure Washer Problems?

Logan

I have a briggs & stratton troy built pressure washer. 190 cc. It will stall after about 3-5 seconds after startup. Fresh clean gas in the tank. Carb was just cleaned. I don't know what to do...
Also it got really hard to pull the crank cord after it stalled out

Answer
its not the engine, the pressure relief on the pump is bad, its not letting by. your building so much pressure it stalls the engine. my guess is its frozen in place. ive overhauled more than a few pressure pumps.
you should be able to squeeze the trigger and bleed off the pressure. keep the trigger squeezed while its running. letting go could damage the machine.

just don't ever get an electric one!

Whats the easiest way to remove old paint from stucco?

Mr. AL

Sand blasting is too messy. Any special tool/s ?

Answer
There is no easy way to remove sound paint (but why would you want to?). If you want to remove loose paint to prepare for painting, use a pressure washer. You want a gasoline powered one, not electric. About a 13hp engine, delivering about 5 gal./min. @ 3000 psi. You can rent these. These are dangerous, get instruction from the rental place. Do not use the 0 deg (red) tip; it will destroy your stucco.

how to clean out deer flesh from car's undercarriage?

KJN

Last night, I was driving on an interstate, when I suddenly noticed a dead road-killed dear (or a part of it at least) lying on the ground. When I noticed it, it was too late to stop or avoid running over it, so I ran over it. Now there is deer flesh on my car's undercarriage, and I can smell burning deer flesh inside my car (possibly some deer flesh on exhaust manifold?). How do I get rid of the deer flesh?
I just don't want my car to smell like a cow's ass when it gets warm out

Answer
get right in there with a pressure washer or take it to an auto detailer. thats what i would do

Can I wash my car's undercarriage on my own?

jilip_99

How do I wash the undercarriage of my car to get off road salts and all that? Is it as simple as putting a hose to it or what?

Answer
I'd find a way to set it up off the ground high enough so that it's comfortable to work under. Be sure to tape off all the electronic components on the engine that will be exposed to the water--your ABS module, ECM, distributor/ignition coil(s), etc to make sure there's no ingress.

There are two ways of washing a car: using a pressure washer and spraying down the undercarriage, or the good ol' fashioned soap-and-water brush technique. Use a gentle detergent like Dawn dishwasher soap--it degreases like nothing and won't harm the car's paint or factory undercoating at all.

Regular garden hoses, while good as a rinse, don't really have the pressure it takes to get off the most stubborn road deposits and salt.

Be careful if you use a pressure washer not to hit the engine if you can avoid it. With either method, washing your car should take you anywhere from two hours to half a day to complete.

Does anyone know what is the PSI at the car wash?? is there any pressure washer that has adjustible pressure?
Thank you!
does anyone know what is the PSI at the Coin car wash.

Answer
on pressure washers the PSI is not as important as the GPM (gallons per minute) so look for pressure washers that have a higher GPM rating. also you adjust the PSI by changing nozzles. make sure there are a variety of nozzles avaliable or the nozzle itself is adjustable. this ensures a wide variety of uses. you would want low pressure to say clean exterior of house vs clean car or driveway. a typical car wash uses 500 to 700 psi. you can find them at sears, lowes, home depot, harbour freight and many auto parts store.

I am leaking oil from my boat engine after I shut down.?

Timothy P

It dumps most of the oil into the bilge and is difficult to find the leak. What is the best way to diagnose where it is coming from without damaging the engine? It is a 1991 8 cyl. small block chevy 350, fresh water cooled, marinized by "marine power". The boat is an '83 26' Chris Craft straight inboard.

Answer
Can be several things,
Are you sure it is from the engine and not from the shift gearbox.

Oil filter (not tightened)
Oil sender, oil pressure switch.
Valve cover gasket
Oil pan gasket
Oil drain plug washer !!
Crankshaft seal
Dipstick tube
Distr cover gasket
ehhh...
I had a leak once and only when hot it dripped oil (1 per 5 minutes), it was the oil drain plug , it was tight already but needed another 1/8 turn to shut properly to keep the warm oil from leaking thrue.

Clean the engine as much you can
Shovel a piece of carton board under the engine so when it drips you know the point where to start looking from.
Good luck!
Frank

why won't pressure washer build pressure?

WENDY

Troy bilt 2550 psi pressure washer with Briggs & Stratton 6.5 hp engine. Working fine until yesterday. Began to leak oil. Later after I stopped to change locations, now it won't build pressure. Are these problems related? How to repair?

Answer
Sometimes the nozzle on the spray head is opened too much for pressure to build up. Try adjusting that.
Your oil leak is probably a seperate problem and much more serious.

handwashing car vs pressure washing?

nitronorbe

i just got my first nice car from the dealer and it's soo nice i want it to stay that way. i'm going to polish and wax it however many times i need to. Will pressure washing wear away at the polish and wax faster than handwashing? if so, i'd rather wash by hand but i don't know much about car washing.

Answer
You don't need to use a pressure washer, but if you do use one then don't use it too close to the car. It may damage your car. I'll tell you everything you need to know:

- Have 2 buckets: one for soapy water and one to rinse the sponge after using it. This stops the soapy water getting dirty.
- If you drop the sponge use another one. The stone chips will damage your paint.
- Don't polish your car too often. Polish is an abrasive and strips a thin layer of your paint off. Just use it maybe once a year.
- If you get a lot of tar drops on your bumpers you can use "clay" to remove it. I only do this once a year too.
- The MAIN thing is wax. I'll explain why. Wax builds a layer on top of your paint and seals it. It also gives it an amazing shine. After you wax you will notice the next time you wash the car the sponge glides over the paint so easily because dirt won't stick. What you will also notice is with regular waxing is that even just with a quick wash your car will shine. So you don't need to wax after every wash. In summer I wax once a month. In winter I only wax every 2-3 months.

Oh yeah and about products. If you are going to polish your car I recommend Triplewax Polish. I always use Meguiars clay once a year too. For wax, I use Simoniz Diamond Hard Wax. You can also use more pricey stuff like Carnauba wax. Oh yeah and if you have nice wheels you can wax them too! It just gives them a better shine and a little protection.

I need a pressure washer for a mobile car wash what type of pressure washer should I be looking for (PSI,HP, and GPM)

Answer
For cars only you simply need a 2000 psi..You definately want one with a ohc engine on it..not the common mower type engine...Most "honda" engines on pressure washers are ohc's (overhead cams)..get one that has a gun that has exchangeable tips and not the ones that you twist the heads to adjust it...these bend and clog up and require buuying a whloe new gun... 5 hp is plenty good..3,5 actually for just cars will

Why does my kitchen sink not get water pressure when on cold?

maw maw

It works fine on hot but just a small slow stream comes out on cold. The other sinks in the house work fine. I have checked the shut off under the sink and it is fully on.

Answer
It either needs the washer or the brass barrel inside the tap replacing. You will need to turn the water off from underneath the sink.

Try fitting a new washer first, if that does not improve things take the top of the tap off again and remove the brass barrel. Take this to a plumbers merchant or a large D.I.Y. store to enable you to get the correct size. They are sold in pairs and cost about £15.

If you are reluctant to remove the barrel, buy several sizes on sale or return and ask for in store advice on how to remove and replace the barrel. B&Q have in store plumbers.
I watched a plumber doing this, then when a tap in another room went kaput I did it myself.

kitchen sink tap burst, water sprayed everywhere...I had kitchen faucet replaced...now theres banging/knock...?

Erin R

now theres banging/knocking like noises when i turn the water on in the kitchen sink.? Could there be something more wrong? What is this noise, I'm scared to turn it on again.
there is no water shut off valve under the sink for some reason, it's actually in the basement. The banging/knocking actually stopped now after a day of working in the new faucet i imagine but i am still very worried there could still be something wrong and this could happen again. There was no warning or issues of any kind with the tap when it burst out of nowhere, nobody was even at the sink using it and nobody was using any water at all when this happend?

Answer
this can be a loose washer on the faucet or the shut off valve under your kitchen sink. if its loose, this washer wil bounce back and forth as the water flow increases and decreases due to pressure. i would look into the shut off valve on the sink first. best of luck

Electric pressure washers?

Mike S

I have seen these Husky 1800 psi electric pressure washers at Home depot for about a $100.00 and I was wanting to know if these units are any good. I have read some user reviews on the Internet and have talked to some people about these and I am getting conflicting answers if they are any good. I was thinking about buying one to use around the home. Such as, cleaning the patio, porch, the driveway and so on. Any help will be appreciated. Thank You.

Answer
I used a Karcher 1500 psi model to clean a 100 foot driveway heavily soiled from oak leaves for 3 years and it worked great although a bit slow. Also used it to pressure wash a deck, garage and siding with no problems...I'd recommend them for minor jobs.

Motor Pump-Horse Power Needed?

snakeboy14

If i needed to pump 900,000 litres of water per minute at 1,000 bars (14,500 psi), What horse power motor would I need.

Whats the calculation or equation that you use?

Answer
#Efficiency=shaft horse power/motor horse power

#Motor horse power
=shaft horse power/efficiency

# Shaft horsepower
=GPM * PSI / 1714
[900 000 liter = 237 754.85 gallon [US, liquid]]
=[237 754.85*14500]/1714
=2011344.99 hp
#The efficiency of most pressure washer pumps is about 85% or less, but we will consider 85% efficiency.
# Motor horse power
=2011344.99*100/85
=2366288.22 hp.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
# It seems to be unrealistic.

# If you want to achieve this feet and make your system full-proof,then you have to go for some other arrangement.

# For flow you have to run the pumps in parallel[at least 3 pumps]
# For 14500 PSI PRESSURE you have to go for booster pumps or you have to run the pump in series.

# It means you have to run the pumps in parallel as well as each pumps have atleast 2 no. of booster pumps in series.

# If you are running this system for continuous plant , then you must have a stand-by system also and lot of inventories of pump spares. Also continuous power supply.

# There is no scope for positive displacement pump like reciprocating, gear, vane, piston ,screw pump or even regenerative turbine pump. These type of pumps are meant for high head-low flow applications. So, you have to go for multi-stages and series network of centrifugal pumps.

How did saab get started?

drewsifer0

How and when did Saab get started and when did GM buy them?

Answer
Until 1990 the company was owned by SAAB, an acronym for "Svenska Aeroplan Aktie(B)olaget" (The Swedish Aeroplane Company), which also included SAAB Aerospace and truck manufacturer Scania. The original Svenska Aeroplan Aktie(B)olaget was started in 1937 with the express purpose of building aircraft for the Swedish air force. After World War II the company's main market for military aircraft declined and after considering other options SAAB decided to move into the passenger car market with Gunnar Ljungström in charge of design. The first car, the Saab 92 was a streamlined steel bodied saloon with a 2 stroke engine driving the front wheels and independent suspension all round. Showing their aviation background the car had, at 0.32, the best drag coefficient of any production car in the world at the time. The 92 name was used as it was the 92nd Saab design, the previous 91 had been aircraft.

Four stroke engines were introduced with the Saab 95 and 96 in 1966 which used a V-4 unit bought in from Ford followed by the Saab 99 of 1967 with a Triumph based engine. This gained an optional turbocharger in 1977. In February 1970, Saab built their 500,000th car. An agreement was reached with Fiat in 1978 to develop a new car platform which became the 1984 Saab 9000 and shared its structure with the Fiat Croma and Alfa Romeo 164.

By the late 1980s Saab were producing more cars than they were selling and in 1989 had 40,000 units in stock. The Arlöv plant was closed but heavy financial losses continued. Talks were opened with Fiat, Mazda and Ford and in January 1990 Saab-Scania moved their passenger vehicle operation to a new company Saab Automobile AB.

General Motors bought half of Saab Automobile on 15th March,1990 for USD600 million with an option to acquire the entire company within a decade. David J Herman became president with Stig Göran Larsson as vice president. Before exercising the option to buy the entire company, GM shared its ownership of Saab Automobile with Investor AB, the main owner of Saab.

Losses continued and the Malmö plant was closed in 1991. A new Saab 900 was launched in 1993 based on the Opel Vectra and in 1995 Saab declared a profit for the first time since 1988.

In March 2005, it was announced that GM would move the production of the next-generation Saab 9-3 from Trollhättan to their Opel plant in Rüsselsheim, Germany. Current models are the 9-3 and 9-5, both of which are manufactured in Trollhättan, Sweden and the Saab 9-7X SUV, manufactured in Moraine, Ohio. The Saab 9-2X, a rebadged Subaru Impreza and manufactured in Japan, was discontinued after the 2006 model year.

Gas and Oil in Honda Pressure washer?

nathan w

I have a Honda GX340 11HP pressure washer. I just had someone get the motor working good and fill all the fluids.

Should I use premium gas or regular? Do I need to mix oil in the gas? How should I store it after my May & June annual pressure washing?

Answer
Regular gas and do not add oil to the gas. Modern pressure washers have 4 stroke engines.

Make sure there is water in the water lines of the pressure washer before running it or you can burn out the pump.

what is the best pressure washer?

Pandora

Looking for a good gas cold water pressure washer for home use.

Answer
There are a couple different types of cold water, gas pressure washers out there. There are direct drive models, and there are belt drive models. The difference is as follows:

Direct Drive- These things are more efficient because they have no moving parts. the shaft from the motor is connected directly to the pump, so no belts or pulleys are required. These units are cheaper because they are simpler to build.

Belt Drive- These units use a belt and pulleys to connect the motor and the pump. This setup uses a few more parts, but is actually preferable to the direct drive units because they last longer. This is because a larger pulley can be used at the pump, causing the pump to run at a lower RPM than the motor. this is less straining on the pump, and will help your unit to last longer. Unfortunately, it is also more expensive.

For home use, I would go with a belt driven unit. If you are using the pressure washer less than 20 hours a week consistently, then it is not worth the added cost to get a belt driven unit. If you do a quick Google search, you will see that most sources recommend 3000 PSI for concrete, and that is more than enough for siding and decks (I'll put a link in my sources to a forum discussion on what pressure is needed for concrete). 3000 PSI is also enough to run a surface cleaner or rotary nozzle if you later decide that you want to speed up that driveway cleaning. I have heard it said that pressure cleans, but flow helps you clean it faster, so make sure that the machine you get has a decent GPM rating. A machine that is like 3000 PSI at 2 Gallons per minute will be perfect for what you need it for.

Note: I would get a machine with a Honda engine. They rarely have to be serviced, and after market parts are abundant online for cheaper repairs.

Can I use a pressure washer to clean my concrete in-ground pool?

I want to prepare my pool with a pressure washer then acid wash pool and paint the pool.

Answer
Realize that you will be taking a risk if you do this yourself, you will save some money but the risk just might not justify it.
If you do it be careful, follow the advice the person before me gave and keep the washer on fairly low.

IN regards to acid washing the pool... do you know how to do this? It can really be dangerous. Make sure that if you decide to do it you have someone else out there to watch you and make sure you are alright. In my opinion the fumes from the poured acid are more dangerous to you then the acid burning you. If you get acid on you just b calm and wash it off with the hose but if you start having a hard time breathing get out of the pool! You do not want to pass out in a pool coated with acid...

My advice, whether you are in Las Vegas or not, is to find a reputable company to di it for you.

What cleaning situations would you use a pressure washer?

Answer
A pressure washer has different settings on it. You use the light setting for windows, medium setting for siding, vehicles, boats, and play equipment. The heavy setting is for brick, mortar, concrete, and other hard,non-forgiving surfaces that you aren't worried about peeling paint or getting banged up by the force of the water.
