I have a Coleman pressure washer that Coleman says is obsolete. I need a part for it. Where can I go?

ramsler

Model # pw0701210.01

Answer
Depends where you live and what part you need.

Its likely that some parts of that washer were used in other Coleman products. A shop specializing in small machine servicing (lawn mowers, compressors, golf carts etc) might be able to offer some suggestions.

I know of two such shops within 10 minutes of my office (near chicago) but if you live in a smaller city they might be harder to come by.

Coleman pressure washer- Anybody have non-working one? I need a pump part?

Old enough

Coleman no longer makes pressure washers. I broke a very small part off my pump. Before you send your broken washer to the dump, I would be happy to buy just this piece I need or your entire non-working pressure washer if you are close to SF Bay area. Mine is the 4hp model but I believe all the pumps were the same.
I erred in my original post. The part I need is for the water distribution manifold (adjusting screw) and not the pump. The pump works fine and there is no mfg name on it so it must be proprietary.

Answer
the pump was NOT made by Coleman. there should be a manufacturers name on the pump. contact Coleman and see if they can give you the name of the manufacturer of the water distributation manifold.

or is it best to just go to the diy shop for one?

Answer
Certainly I agree in part with answer 1, as Ebay may seem like a great bargain, but if you're talking about something like a Karcher Pressure Washer, the shipping cost will likely be more than the bid/win.

Karcher is already at the low end of that type of tool/appliance anyway, and the money you save in shipping, even using gasoline to get to a store that sells them, might help pay a utility bill for a month

nosintaken

I live in an apartment and want to purchase an electric pressure washer to wash my car. Of all the washers I've seen, they all have GFCI ends but the only outlet is about 40 feet away from my car and is a normal outlet. The outlet is inside the complex but I was wondering if it was possible to still use the washer or if it wouldn't work.

Please don't answer and say to wash the car the normal way, I'm just looking for an answer on if it's possible, with why or why not. Thanks for the help

Answer
It will work. The gfi is built into the pressure washer plug. When you plug the washer in you're in effect protecting you and the washer as if it was a gfi circuit.

Can you use a pressure washer attachment on a regular water hose or is the high-pressure machine needed?

Willing2Wo

My needs are modest. I simply want to do things like reach some high spots on my house to get rid of spider webs, or light dirt.

Answer
By an attachment I assume you mean the WAND and SPRAY TIP for the end of the hose.

The distance the water travels and the force that it cleans with are directly related to the PRESSURE, as is the volume of water that discharged.

If you reduce the pressure to that of a Garden Hose Spigot on your house your reach is correspondingly reduced.

The bigger issue for you is that the Pressure Washer Wand does not have the same threaded connections as a Garden Hose, and some do not have common connections.

If you are not prepared to purchase even the lower pressure range household pressure washers, sold by people like Home Depot or Walmart for as little as $85.00, then you might want to try a Lower cost alternative to a Pressure Washer Wand first.

There are Garden Hose WATERING Wands, up to 48" long, with Female Garden Hose Thread on the inlet and Male GHT on the outlet.
You can also buy short SWEEPER nozzles with GHT that have a small diameter outlet that concentrate the flow and maintain the pressure in the line. This works like when you were a kid squezzing off the flow at the end of the hose with your thumb and the water shoots farther, or in simple terms restict the flow and the water pressure behind it increases (up to a point).

I have seen these in Garden Supply stores, Hardware Stores (seasonally) and Home Supply stores, like Lowes and Home Depot (seasonally).

Another nozzle that can restrict the flow even further is an Adjust-a-Power Nozzle, which is a short twist nozzle that has an interior rubber tube pinched by bearings to create a finer stream with the most hitting force and reach possible from the 100 PSI or less available from your household water supply.

Keep in mind that the smaller the nozzle orifice the smaller the flow rate, at a given pressure, and if it is the volume of water you are depending on to do the cleaning, you may take a while.

If you go the route of a traditional Pressure Washer Wand and tip, you will need to make sure you get an adapter (or a series of adapters) to convert to the thread needed for the inlet connection on the Pressure Washer Wand. That done you are again limited by the 100 PSI or less available from your household water supply.

Good Luck

If I purchased an item with a credit card at Walmart 1 year ago, how do I get the original receipt?

Dinosaur

I need to return a pressure washer for warranty, but the manufacturer needs either the original receipt or the credit card statement. Only problem is that I forgot around what month last year the item was purchased. I called Walmart and they said they would not be able to locate it without knowing an exact date. I called the local Walmart store where I bought it and they said they can only go back 1 month. Other retailers seem to be more helpful in these cases because I didn't know the date of purchase of an item and they found it just by me telling them what item I purchased from them. What else can I try?
I contacted the credit card company, but the other issue is this. I paid with cash ( I believe) when I purchased the item and put the rst on my credit card so when the copies of the credit card statements arrived it was still very hard to determine what month I purchased the item from Walmart. I thought if I called Walmart's credit dept. and told them what I bought they could find it, but they told me they can't....weird.

Answer
contact the bank that holds the credit card you used and ask them to send you a copy of the card statements for the months that you might have bought the washer in. for instance if you can narrow it down to april or may of last year then tell the bank that those are the years that you need. you may have to pay for the statements depending on the bank you use but at least you will have the exact date of the purchase, and can then get the reciept if you still need it from walmart.

How to go about sealing coolant leak from cooling lines on radiator?

pressure washer fittings on Pressure Washer Replacement Accessories help you clean faster!
pressure washer fittings image

William

Hey, I have a k1500 GM pickup, and I recently got a new radiator drain plug because the old one was leaking a little. Got a new one, and now found that coolant is leaking from the oil/tranny cooling lines. Not oil, but coolant is leaking from behind them where the metal fittings meets the plastic. It's a plastic tank by the way.

I was thinking about stop-leak, but that would be a last resort for me. I heard that there are rubber gaskets on the inside of the tank that could be replaced, but i'm not sure.

I'd like to hold off on getting a new radiator, because this one is in pretty good shape(minus the leaks, lol), and I want to use this one until i get a new engine, then i'll get a new radiator for that. How should I go about doing this? Should I unscrew the metal fittings and buy new gaskets(if they even sell them)? Should I instead use RTV sealant? Or go with stop leak?

Answer
There are a few ways to fix this with the best being a new unit but out side of that as you stated you wish to avoid that right now I will list a few tricks I have used in just cases like this

1) Try tighting the fittings a little bit but be careful as they are in plastic!

2) wrap in Teflon tape at lest 3 to 4 wraps but no more then 6 as it may not fit back in with that many . Normally 3 to 4 will do it.

3 pull the lines( there your auto tranny cooling lines by the way) and use a tight fitting rubber washer on the out side next to the hole then wrap the threads with Teflon tape 3 to 4 times and tighten it up.

if none of this works buy a new radiator as using stop leak is never a good deal if it can be avoided at all as not only will it stop the leak (maybe) but because of how it works it can also plug or come close to it the small tubes in the radiator and or heater core besides coat the cooling passages in the motor lowering there efficiency. Now if you do replace the radiator do your self a big favor and do these things also

1) Flush the motor and heater core before you install the new radiator do this by removing the thermostat and then run a hose into the return radiator line from the motor tell you get clear water.

2) Replace thermostat with a new one

3) Replace all radiator hoses and heater hoses including any small by-pass hoses.

4) Replace the radiator cap with a new one that also is with in the OEM pressure rating.

Doing the above will stop any contamination from getting into the new radiator right off the bat. It will also stop you from blowing older hoses that may be weak from the possible higher pressure of the new radiator being it will not longer be leaking and can now build full pressure some thing it most likely has not done for some time. (Learned this one the hard way on the side of the road late at night as one hose after another blew!)

My oil pressure warning light on my Honda Accord 96 goes on when the engine is idle, what is the problem?

pressure washer gauge on pressure washers from 575 00 vat tx tsx electric pressure washers ...
pressure washer gauge image

globalspec

I have an accord 96 that has 100,000kms on it. had an oil change recently.

A few days after this oil change, I had an overheat and after this overheat, the oil pressure warning light started acting eratically.

First, after a cold start, the light does not turn on but after the engine warms up, the light flashes. The problem is, while revving the engine, the light goes off and immediately goes on again when the engine is idle.

To address my original problem, mechanics informed me that they would change the oil sending unit, change thermostat valve and thermostat switch.

After this, the problem was still the same (light goes off with revving). They recommended a general overhaul for the reason that the engine had so much sludge and they blamed the problem on the engine flush that was included during the change oil.

Now, i really dont know what to do next. General overhaul is too expensive for my budget.. Any tips?
Thanks very much!

Answer
the first and obvious question is--have you checked the oil level recently? I've seen drain bolts leak on Hondas if you don't change the washer for the plug and you could legitimately have a low oil condition. so thats the first thing to do.

then, if the oil is full, have your technician put an oil pressure gauge on the car to run a pressure test. That will tell you if the problem is a mechanical one (oil pump) or an electrical one (sending unit/gauge). Your description sounds like a mechanical problem with the oil pump. If the car does have low oil pressure, then the next thing to do is to have the oil pan removed to check the oil pick up for the oil pump. If it is clogged they can clean it. If not, then you'll have to change the pump.

accords are not known to generate a lot of sludge unless the oil is never changed. the engine flushes rarely provide any value.

hope that helps

Matt

I'm curious to how you guys wash your vehicles engine? I just open the hood and go at it with a pressure washer, if you have a more efficient way please share it with me. Thanks.

Answer
i will give you some tips on how to clean your engine, the cleanness and safer way to do it.
1. cover the parts that are not to be wet, such as spark plugs, alternator, starter and fuses. You can use cloth first then cover it with plastic to make it sure.
2. clean it with kerosine first, you might use a paint brush to clean inner parts of the engine. You can use in engine degreaser if you want instead of kerosine to remove oil and dirt in your engine.
3. Then spray it off with high pressure water to remove the dirt. You can use detergent soap to clean it more especially the part that kerosine and degreaser does not remove.
4. you can dry it with cloth and spray with high pressure air to remove and dry excess water.
5. You can use wax under the hood and armorall to all black part of your engine.
cleaning your engine is one way of maintenance, you can do this as often as you want or feels like doing it. I suggest you can regularly clean your engine as often as you clean the exterior of your car. Hope this help!

should pressure washer have much pressure when quick disconnect is not on wand?

mowerman

do the tips increase pressure or is all from the pump?

Answer
It has full pressure. The tip allows whatever product you are spraying to flow, thus "using" pressure and decreasing it until the pump can rebuild it. The tip merely allows different patterns of spray.

I have a 3800 psi dewalt pressure washer and im wanting to turn it down to about 3000-3300 psi but im not sure to tell what psi im at while turning the pressure down.
If anyone could help me out id appreciate it!
Thanks!

Answer
What you would have to do is connect a pressure gauge between the end of the hose and the gun. Run the pressure washer with the gun's trigger pressed so there's water flow and check the pressure it is shooting water. To adjust it to the pressure you want you can either use the unloader to regulate pressure or adjust the engine's rotation which would also regulate pressure.
If you need a gauge here is the link to a 5000 psi one. There are more on the website in case you think this one is too much.

Why I have no pressure on my pressure washer?

Ken H

My pressure washer starts quickly, runs good, but my pressure stopped. Hoses not clogged, have water coming thru wand, but no pressure. How do I fix this?

Answer
If you've ever run the pump without water pressure being on it then you can suck the seals loose. Sometimes they will reseat, other times not.

When you last used it - if it was last year, before winter, and you didn't winterize it the seals may have dried out. Just about all hardware stores carry a seal conditioner for pressure pumps. It lubricates and conditions the seals while also removing water from the pump so if the weather freezes you don't crack the pump housing. I've bought many pressure washers that have experienced this problem. People in my area fail to winterize their pumps and end up with junk. They still have a good engine on them, but the pump must be replaced.

With your pump, check for leaks. If it's not leaking anywhere then that's a good sign. There is a pressure regulator on the outlet side that when there is sufficient pressure the high pressure water is diverted back to the inlet side. That's so the pump doesn't stall the engine or blow the hose.

CAUTION: IF YOU MESS WITH THAT SETTING YOU CAN DAMAGE THE PUMP OR EVEN DAMAGE YOURSELF. YES, YOU CAN GET HURT IF IT'S NOT DONE RIGHT. If you DO remove it, make sure you carefully count the number of turns to put it back exactly as it was before you took it off. There MIGHT be soap residue keeping the pump from building high pressure. The water can be going in circles.

There's a lot to pressure washers you wouldn't think of. These are just a few possibilities.

Best of luck with your project. AND BE CAREFUL.

DOUG W

Would a 2200 psi pressure washer remove latex stain from a deck that is already pealing? its a 250 dollar pressure washer. How good could it be?

Answer
It should, but be careful. 2200 psi can do a lot of damage to wood. Using a good cleaner will help you immensely. Sherwin-Williams makes a great 3 part system for revitalizing decks. It starts with Stain and Sealer Remover. Use that to get the old finish off of the deck. The next step is called Revive. It neutralizes the remover, and cleans the deck. After this product, the deck will look brand new. Then you apply their Deckscapes stain. It comes in oil or latex based formulas, semi transparent or solid, and in a variety of stock colors. It's an excellent system, the only one I would ever use. Hope this helps.

Fossil fuels? ( Natural Gas && Coal )?

mora.iseni

NaTuRaL fUeLs:
does anyone know anything that contains heating or generating electricity?

CoAl:
does anyone know anyfacts about coal?

Answer
But most people have no idea where their electricity comes from or how it is made. We used to joke about people who thought that milk came from bottles, not cows. Well, electricity is like that today. Here is a story that makes the point:
How important is coal in generating electricity?

Very important. More than half of the electricity in the country is generated using coal. (See the Power Generation Chart below.)

Meet your old friend coal.

Ask somebody "How much coal do you burn?" You're likely to get an answer like this. "A silly question" they will say. "We don't burn coal in our house! People used to burn coal, but they don't anymore."Then you say "Well yes, that's true, but only because somebody burns it for you -- the electric company. Got lights? A fridge? Hot water, a washer, air conditioning? Telephone, TV, VCR, maybe even a computer?" Most likely they'll say "Of course, almost everybody has that stuff."

Now you have them. Just tell them:

Here's why. Almost all electricity is made by spinning a magnet, called a generator. Most generators are powered by high pressure steam blowing through a sort of fan, called a turbine. Coal has always been our primary source of the steam used to make electricity, for several reasons. First and foremost, coal is abundant. It is found all over the country and it is easy to get to. In many places it can be mined right from the surface. In other places the miners go underground to get it. Because coal is abundant and easy to get to, it is very cheap. It is also easy to transport and store, compared to other fuels.

If you look at the Power Generation Chart you can see how we have made our electricity over the last 25 years. Oil and gas also have been burned to make steam, especially gas. They compete with coal primarily in places where coal is not found locally where they become competitive. But in most places oil and gas are more expensive than coal, especially oil. New gas-burning steam power plants are being built today. In addition oil and gas are burned in internal combustion engines to drive electric generators.

Since the 1970s, nuclear energy has become an important source of steam to make electricity, and it is now our second largest source of power. However, nuclear power has become very expensive because of concerns over its safety, so no new plants are being built. Water power can also turn a turbine, without steam, and hydroelectric power plants have always been important. However, they can only be built in special places, and some people object to the dams they require, so no new hydro plants are being built.

We also use a tiny bit of solar power, wind power, geothermal power, and some other stuff. But not enough so far to even show up on the chart.

So it is mostly coal and gas that we depend on for new generating capacity.
"Well it all runs on coal, or mostly coal. Same for the stores, the malls, office buildings and factories -- they all run on electricity, which means they run on coal. True, we also use nuclear power, some gas and oil, even some good old-fashioned water power to make electricity, depending on the electric company. But mostly it's coal, coal and more coal -- one billion tons a year or more. Almost four tons a year for every one of us. Four tons! Even today."

But coal is at a crossroads. We depend on it today, and we desperately need to build more generating capacity. Should we burn more coal or do something else?

Some people say it is too dirty to burn any more and we should stop using it. Some say we can burn it cleaner and should do that. Some say we burn it clean enough now, a whole lot cleaner than we used too, clean enough. Then there is the issue of whether burning so much coal is affecting the earth's climate? And if so, how? There's lots of disagreement about that. (See Coal and Climate Change)

Some want more nuclear power plants instead, but others don't want any. Many people want to burn natural gas instead of coal, but the only extra gas is in places like Texas and Canada, a long way away and very expensive. Some say we should just use less electricity, but that is hard because it is so useful. What to do about coal is a very big question. One we all need to think about. (See Why Not Stop Burning Coal?)

Hi, I have a cheap Anlu pressure washer (Harbor Freight special from a couple years back) which had the inlet fitting on
the gun break after about 2 hours of use. Well, I was able to get a
replacement fitting, but somehow when I took the gun apart, the steel
ball for the gun valve fell on the garage floor and bounced into
obvlion. I looked for about 2 horus and couldn't find it. Anyway, I
can't get any help from Anlu, and all I want to do is find a stainless
ball the right size to fit. I'm in Portland, OR and don't know of a
local steel ball retailer, so I was going to order some on the web,
but I don't know what size it is. I suupose I could guess, or how can
I figure out from the valve seat how big the ball should be. I figure
it's got to be a pretty common size (probably metric, somewhere
equivalent to about 1/4", I would think).

Answer
A really good hardware store will have these, It is probably 1/4- 5/16" Take the valve to the store and try both sizes

Pressure washer for Car?

my husband is thinking to buy a pressure washer , main reason is to wash his car, but also to use it around the house, drive way etc...but we have no idea which one to buy, which PSI is strong enought to clean the car without damaging the car. He baby his car very much!
Does anyone know what is the PSI at the car wash?? is there any pressure washer that has adjustible pressure?
Thank you!
does anyone know what is the PSI at the Coin car wash.

Answer
on pressure washers the PSI is not as important as the GPM (gallons per minute) so look for pressure washers that have a higher GPM rating. also you adjust the PSI by changing nozzles. make sure there are a variety of nozzles avaliable or the nozzle itself is adjustable. this ensures a wide variety of uses. you would want low pressure to say clean exterior of house vs clean car or driveway. a typical car wash uses 500 to 700 psi. you can find them at sears, lowes, home depot, harbour freight and many auto parts store.

What kind of soap fluid does a Husky Power washer need?

dvls2007

I have a gasoline Husky pressure washer. What type of soap fluid do I need? Model number is HU80432A.

Answer
The user manual says "Use only detergents designed for pressure washers; household detergents, acids, alkalines, bleaches, solvents, flammable material, or industrial grade solutions can damage the pump. Many detergents may require mixing prior to use. Prepare cleaning solution as instructed on the solution bottle."

Searches at a few web sites for pressure washer soap returns hits. Home DePeau has a 'packet' thingie that looks like it'd get pretty expensive if you need much. Walmart has a few options.

The main intent of this is that you don't use any solvents, acids. alkalines, bleaches that might damage the *pump*.

Since this is the kind of thing that you're going to be blowing soap all over the landscape I'm a big fan of Simple Green and other environment-friendly biodegradeables, so I looked that up too. The first URL below has a whoooole page of SG FAQ, including power washer. See that for details about dilution, eye protection, and watering lawn afterward to push the residue into the ground.

Ahhhh, the simplegreen.com site says they have a pressure washer specific cleaner. Doesn't say what's 'different' about it though. There's a FAQ page that says "Pressure Washers & Power Washers â Are Simple Green® products pressure washer safe? Simple Green is pressure washer safe. Simple Green also offers products specifically designed for use in pressure washers. These pressure washer concentrates can be located on the Products page of the Simple Green website.

The third URL is a press release. Actually they have a whole *line* of pressure washer specific stuff for different purposes. But again they don't really say what's 'different.' Unless they say something specific, it's all marketing-speak to me designed to sell more stuff. YMMV.

I am looking at 2 pressure washers that are $100 difference in price. One is 2700 PSI running and the other is 2000 PSI running. For the purpose of cleaning my garage and concrete driveway, would I notice much difference if I went with the 2000 PSI one?

Answer
Generally it makes a difference in how wide a swath you can spray (assuming the nozzle is adjustable). So the higher pressure machine might be able to clean a 6" wide swath, where the lower pressure machine might only be able to do a 4" wide swath with the same exit pressure.

If you're trying to earn a living, the higher pressure machine may get the job done more quickly, and will likely pay back your investment sooner.

Good Luck

Insecticide in a pressure washer?

Jennifer

I am wondering what is a good sprayer for yard/garden insecticide and liquid fertilizer. I just finished pressure washing my deck and got to thinking it would be nice to have something like this -- electric and powerful -- for my yard, for my very tall fruit trees, 1-acre grass with ants, general fertilizing. I bet one could get that done in no time flat.

I have a Craftsman hand-pump which I was never, ever happy with from day one. I dread the thought of using it.

Anyone ever put anything like that in a pressure washer ?
On 2+ acres infested with ants, I think it's time to spray. I'm sure the 3 neighbors would prefer to see the lush green lawn I used to have . . .

Trust me, they won't/can't sue and wouldn't do that anyway, not like that here, thank goodness

Answer
Prune your fruit trees. Get those high suckers off. Tall tree do not produce much fruit,(especially on the higher limbs). These types of trees are being yanked for a more tighter intense production orchard.
The excess sucker growth just makes the tree weaker (and a weak tree basically gives off a scent that attracts bugs).

As for putting insecticide into a pressure washer.....you seem to have overlooked that insecticide and poison are the same thing. It will kill you just as well as a bug. You really want to be careful with it and not contaminate the entire neighborhood. Besides it needs to be ontop of the leaves, (not in them.) Same would apply to the fruit. A poison apple is not worth much to anyone.
Orchardists try using as little pesticides as possible.(it cuts into their profit margin)
I wouldn't use it for getting it out of the pressure washer will take ages.(and maybe the next thing you pressure wash is the picnic table).without even thinking about residue.

how do i change the oil on a troy bilt pressure washer?

pressure washer pump oil on When to Change Your Pressure Washer Pump Oil
pressure washer pump oil image

Randi M

I need help finding out where the oil plug is located on a troy bilt pressure washer model number 020344 before I can change the oil. I would like to do this before I use it this summer.
Thanks for any help.

Answer
The manual states you can change the motor oil from the top by tipping it over and drain it from the dipstick hole with the air clearer side up as you tip it. You can drain it from the bottom by removing drain plug with a ratchet and square extension, oil can be drained from engine bottom. Also you must change the pump oil every 50 hours or once a year according to the manual. To change the pump oil, use a 8mm allen wrench to remove black pump oil cap between high pressure outlet and garden hose inlet. I have this pressure washer and I change the oil from the bottom. There is no drain hole near the dipstick on mine

I have a Troy-Bilt pressure washer 1 year old. I can not get any pressure there was dirt in pump outlet pipe. I cleaned out the dirt but now it will not build up pressure. Motor runs fine and if you wait a minute it will build up some pressure by not pulling trigger but will quickly drop.

how to unclog main drain with pressure washer?

pressure washer jetter on Hyde Tools 28430 - Hyde 28
pressure washer jetter image

Dave

Answer
You can build or buy a sewer jetter attachment for your pressure washer for less than $150. A sewer jetter is a thin, high-pressure hose with a jet nozzle that pulls the hose into the drain and breaks up the clog. With a sewer jetter you typically start from the main drain cleanout outside your home or in your basement, or from a drain opening such as an inlet under a sink that's upstream of the clog. Search online for "build or buy a pressure washer sewer jetter."

can you change a pressure washer into a sewer jetta?

LARRY

Answer
Yes, just install the kits to convert them into sewer jetter.Set up your pressure washer outside to get started. Attach your pressure washer hose to your pressure washer and run this hose to the inside or outside drain you want to clean. Remove your gun/wand and attach the provided ball valve, jumper hose and hose reel. Install the provided jetter hose onto the hose reel and attach the desired nozzle for the job at hand.
