searching for Mobile Pressure washing trailers?

Rusty L

Answer
Any company that sells the presssure washers might be able to give you a lead on a trailer. Also check at marine yards and second hand marine stores. They are good places for leads for that sort of thing. Ebay might be a possibility. These links may be of some help. Best of luck with finding what you need.

What is the best way to clean white vinyl siding using a power washer? Is there a pretreatment?

Eldorado

I have a 2600 psi power washer in conjunction with good pressure public water. However, my white siding has a dullish speckling of light grey oxidation or something similar and it's very hard to remove. The washer did a great job on the deck and fencing. Is there a pretreatment to apply that would help clean white vinyl or another method all togetther? (Besides replacing) . I'm hearing not so good reviews on the spray on coating applications. Thanks

Answer
You don't say if it has a down stream injector for soap, if it does go to a supplier that sells truck wash soap .It is a lot stronger than the stuff you would buy at a Lowes or Home Depot. Hot water high pressure will take off dirt better but if yours is a cold water washer you need the stronger soap . Check your phone book for truck wash, or truck stops. ask them where they buy the soap they use, they might sell you enough to do the job.
Where I live you can look under washing in the book and 3 names are there that sell the soap, If your close I will give you enough for the job ,I have about 100 gallon in the shop so I won't miss it.

Best way to clean engine parts?? Will chose best answer?

JIN

I am replacing a head gasket and my engine head is really dirty.
Manifold is full of dark carbon built up.

Anyway to clean my injectors when there off?

Any tips would help. Will chose best answer thanks

Answer
If you are changing the head gasket STOP and get the head done . There are reasons why head gaskets blow . If your motor is that carboned up you should have the valves done and the head decked and magnafluxed . The machine shop I use cleans your other parts cheap ( $15 for block last time I had one done ) Shop around for quality shop with reasonable prices . I use L&M in New Carlisle , Ohio for all my head and motor work .The rest you can take to the car wash and use wheel cleaner and degreaser to clean intake if it is aluminium . Degreaser first then wheel cleaner pressure washer and soap rock on intakes . Brake cleaner or carb cleaner on rest of stuff and a little elbow grease , wire brushes , wire wheels on drills , and clean rags . Tape all ports before using wire brushes and have a good magnet for removing rust and wire debris . Wipe down with soapy water and rinse with hot water before painting if still grease covered .

I just started a pressure washing side business, is there any secrets to cut cleaning time?

Richard S

i have a 3000 psi pressure washer with extention.Looking for tips, tools,or chemicals that would help

Answer
Yes, I've been doing it full time for 3 years and learned that a good surface cleaner and a 6 ft. wand are great time saving tools. Best money I ever spent. Ex: Almost everybody will want you to do their driveway or sidewalks along with the house. Do a driveway by hand and it will take hours and give you a sore back. Use a surface cleaner and it will take 60-90 minutes and do a better job than with a wand. Good surface cleaners last 10 years and have few moving parts to break. New ones cost around $1500 but will pay for themselves in a month. The 6 ft. wand. When cleaning the eaves, soffit and fascia of a house, you have to hit it from several angles to get it clean and a 6 ft. wand saves you from lugging a ladder around the whole house so you can get the nozzle at the right distance to the surface. The area I work in is hilly so many of the lots are sloped and suddenly a house is much taller at one end. Normally, you would need to get a ladder or extension pole. With a 6 ft. wand, you can still reach the area and move on to the next. A 6 ft. wand also has a tendency to keep you drier when working. Ex: when you are cleaning mold from a slab, it's easier to stay dry. 6 ft. wands usually run about $150, but are totally worth it. Get one with a variable pressure handle and it will save the wear and tear on your machine, but specifically the pump. Also, a 12 ft. ladder with a 6 ft. wand will allow you to clean most 2 story houses without having to use a 24 ft. extension pole. Extension poles are great for the abs but it gets old as the summer goes on. I'll be happy to talk with you about chemicals I use, just contact me. No charge.

Can someone help me find a good hot water pressure for business?

ol'E

looking to start P.W service on a budget but want to get some good equipment have looked at landa, and hotsy great machines but a little pricey also need surface cleaner extension wands and chemicals I got a budget of $6500 for P.W and surface cleaner wands hoses and hose reels located in alabama but will travel a bit for good deals any pro out there help me out I need it.

Answer
ol'E, I don't have any answers for you but, have you done much power washing before? It's hard work. I know I wouldn't want to do it for a living. Just yesterday, I rented a power washer and cleaned all the brick & concrete in the front yard & around both sides of my dad's house. It took me 7 hours & by the time I was done, my booty was thoroughly kicked. It looks great though. (LOL) Good luck.

Where can we rent a pressure washer?

Q. To clean the siding on the house we're buying. Would Lowes or Home Depot carry them? I live in central Virginia.

Answer
I don't like to clean houses with a pressure washer.

You need a bucket and a car washing brush.
You want to screw that brush to an extension pole.
You need some dish soap and some laundry bleach like Clorox.
Half a cup to 2 gallons of water.
Wear old clothes.
Put some soap in your bleach water.
Wet the house with a regular low pressure garden hose.
Wash an area six or eight feet wide just like you are washing a truck or camper. Scrub it all good and rinse.
Move to the next section of wall.

Pressure washers are okay for decks and driveways.
They blow water behind the siding and cause rot and mold or mildew.
It is not a good thing.
Siding is designed to keep rain out of your house.
It is not designed for a pressure washer.

Scrub brush on a pole works a lot better.
Use the garden hose for rinsing the soap off.
You don't want pressure.
You don't want to get water in the attic either.

has anyone ever rented a pressure washer? where did you rent one from and about how much did you pay?

Mono

the home i am renting needs a good cleaning! so i was thinking of doing that this weekend. not sure if i should go to Lowe's or home depot..... thanks for your input!
oh yeah how did it work did you just hook it up to a hose? i have well water does that matter?

Answer
Most rental yards have pressure washers. Its been a long time since I rented one. I would expect to pay $40-50/day. It hooks up to a regular garden hose. The only concern is if your well has enough gallons per minute for the washer to work properly. As a painting contractor I pressure wash many houses and decks every year. My big pressure washer is rated for 4 gallons per minute, my smaller one is 2.5 GPM. Before I hook it up I time how long it take the hose to fill a 5 gallon pail. If it takes longer than a minute I know not to use the bigger machine.
I don't recommend the rotating tip for beginners. Its true that it can do the job faster but it can do lots of damage if you are not careful. Sometimes the rotating feature gets stuck and leaves you with a narrow high pressure stream. Play it safe and use a 25 or 40 degree fan tip. Keep the water moving without stopping in one spot. That can cause damage if the water gouges the wood.
Most of the houses I work on have well water. I find about 1 in 10 don't have enough flow to use my 3500 psi, 4 GPM machine. I have only found 1 where I couldn't use my smaller washer.

how to unclog main drain with pressure washer?

Dave

Answer
You can build or buy a sewer jetter attachment for your pressure washer for less than $150. A sewer jetter is a thin, high-pressure hose with a jet nozzle that pulls the hose into the drain and breaks up the clog. With a sewer jetter you typically start from the main drain cleanout outside your home or in your basement, or from a drain opening such as an inlet under a sink that's upstream of the clog. Search online for "build or buy a pressure washer sewer jetter."

Water hose pressure washer adapter at lowes?

Iron

Does lowes carry the adapter you can put on your garden hose to use it as a pressure washer? Also does this thing work good, anyone used it? Thanks.

Answer
Pressure washers INCREASE the pressure of the water entering the washer by means of a HIGH PRESSURE pump. Nothing that does not reach similar pressures will have the same effect.
(Pressure washers usually operate up to 1500 - 3000 PSI, up to 15 - 30 times Household water pressure.)

There are a few items that use compressed air to additionally pressurize the water, but they require a separate air compressor and a second hose and never reach really high pressure. (These can discharge at up to about 250 PSI, up to about 2 1/2 Times Household water pressure.)
http://www.expeditionexchange.com/staun/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHBAT4G55T0
These are usually only used in industrial applications where compressed air is already available.

I am assuming that this is the sort of item you were looking to find.
http://www.asseenontvvideo.com/511962/Water-Jet-As-Seen-on-TV.html

This type of item DOES NOT increase the pressure coming into the device,
it merely maintains more of that pressure and hence has a somewhat increased force to the stream of water coming out of the tip, by simply reducing the size of the orifice (hole) at the end of the nozzle. (Household water pressure is usually under 100PSI.)

There are quite a number of common nozzles that achieve much the same effect at a much LOWER COST.

The Adjust-a-Power nozzle is a common one widely used by forestry fire fighters, and car washes.
http://www.dixonvalve.com/dpl/dpl_page/2007/239.pdf
http://www.jmesales.com/item/143575/Dixon-Adjust-a-Power-Nozzle.aspx
You may even find this type of nozzle at Lowes, Home Depot or your local hardware store.

An even cheaper unit to try that is sure to be available at Lowes, Home Depot or your local hardware store is a SWEEPER nozzle. Which has a smaller orifice than a regular Garden Hose Nozzle, but larger than the Adjust-a-Power nozzle.
http://www.dixonbrass.com/dpl/dpl_page/2009/029.pdf
http://www.jmesales.com/item/148800/Dixon-Brass-Sweeper-Nozzle.aspx

Keep in mind that when the orifice is smaller LESS water comes out per minute (or per hour) if you are at the same pressure, so with these devices if the water is doing the real washing it may take significantly longer to achieve the effect you want as well.

what means psi for Pressure Washer?

Alex

Pressure Washer

Answer
It means pounds per square inch of pressure. Kind of like how you would rate a motor on a car is it a 4 cylinder of a 6 or an 8 etc. If you are in need of a heavy duty pressure washer then you will be looking at a 3500 psi unit, if it is for general use for your car or house then you could get away with a 1500 psi unit. It all depends on what you intend on using this for.

You might want to consider renting one from your local Home Depot or such store before you buy anything though as this will help you make your decision.

cheers

Add ammonia, it kills ants and bees.

Where can you buy E10 fuel for power washer?

Melixx28

We recently purchased a new Homelite 2700 PSI Pressure Washer. Usually my dad knows which fuels to purchase. Were confused as to where to buy E10 FUEL/GAS. Is it the same thing as regular fuel you get from the gas station?

Answer
Almost all gasoline is ethanol-blended now, so you should be good as long as you don't get the E85.

If you got pure-grade gasoline, I doubt it would cause a problem. Even E15 is unlikely to be a real issue, but most places are E10, so don't worry too much about it.

Will a 1.9 gpm pressure washer work with a 5.5 gpm wand?

Zach T

I have acquired a Craftsman Clean n Carry pressure washer for free because it "didn't pump right". It is 4 hp and rated for 2150 psi/ 1.9 GPM. Unfortunately, it came without the hose and wand as well. :( When nothing is attached to the outlet connection while it's running it produces a nearly painful stream of water. The pump appears to be in great shape. However, whenever the wand is attached, the pressure is very low. The wand is rated for 5.5 GPM. Why is the pressure low?

Answer
Try to wrap your head around this: what would the flow be like if you could hook a fire hose to your hose bibb.... (household water hose connection)

Questions about the SAAB 9-5?

Steven T

What is the specific difference between the ARC, AERO, and LINEAR. Please be as specific as you can. Thank you.

Answer
You failed to mention the year, so that makes a difference. However, for example, try 2005:

In 2005 the engine was the same but the turbo boost was different. Linear was only the wagon format. Below are all the differences:

Details: Linear

The Linear is powered by a 2.3L DOHC four-cylinder engine with a light-pressure turbocharger system. Itâs rated at 185-horsepower (138 kw) and 207 lb.-ft of torque (281 Nm). The standard transmission is a five-speed manual and Saabâs Sentronic five-speed automatic transmission is optional.

Available exclusively as a SportWagon for 2005, the 9-5 Linearâs standard features include an electronic traction control system (TCS), electronic stability program (ESP), anti-lock braking system (ABS) and 16-inch light alloy wheels.

Inside, Linear SportWagon customers are rewarded with leather seating surfaces, a wood-effect instrument panel, electrically adjustable front seats and automatic climate control with separate temperature controls for driver and front passenger. The 9-5 Linear SportWagon also features a rear seat that can be fully or partially folded (60/40), a rigid cargo shelf and the CargoTracks load-securing system. With the rear seat folded, the vehicle has a cargo volume of 73 cubic feet (2067 L).

Details: Arc

A sportier ride and additional comfort features, Saab offers the 9-5 Arc, available in Sedan or SportWagon body styles. For 2005, it retains the powerful, 220-horsepower (164 kw), 2.3L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which can be had with the standard five-speed Sentronic automatic transmission or the optional five-speed manual transmission. The Arc rides on standard 16-inch wheels sporting a new design, while 17-inch wheels with all-season tires are optional.

Heated front seats are standard on all Arc models, as are the power sliding glass sunroof with express open, color-matched body skirts, and front and rear foglamps. Ventilated front seats remain a popular option on Arc models.

Adding a degree of safety, thanks to superior illumination, Xenon headlamps with headlamp washers are optional. Rain-sensing wipers and parking assistance also are available.

Details: Aero

Aero Sedan and Aero SportWagon. All Aero models feature bolstered sport seats, 17-inch wheels, a sport-tuned chassis and the 2.3L High-Output Turbo (HOT) engine producing 250 horsepower (187 kw) and 258 lb.-ft. of torque (350 Nm). A five-speed manual is standard and Saabâs five-speed Sentronic automatic transmission is available.

Aero models are distinguished with a body kit that delivers a more aggressive exterior appearance. In addition to equipment found on Linear and Arc models, the 9-5 Aero features leather sport seats with sport steering wheel, a 200-watt, nine-speaker Harman/Kardon-tuned audio system, an automatic-dimming rearview mirror with compass and integrated garage door opener. As with 9-5 Arc models, Xenon headlamps with headlamp washers are available.

As of late, all Saab 9-5s have the same 250 hp engine and other changes occured, so the year is quite important. This is to just give you an idea of the differences one model year.

reviews on the holiday inn vacation in orlando florida?

mhm

Hi guys! Im planning to go to Orlando for my 16 birthday with a few other people, so were looking for a big room. We found one at the holiday inn and it have 3 bedrooms 4 beds a dining area, and a living area and a full washer and dryer for only 225 a night. Sounds a little too good to be true. I'm pretty much a big clean freak and i dont want to stay anywhere that is like not well maintained. Has anyone ever have any experiences staying in this hotel? How many bathroom do you think this room would have?

Here is a link

http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us/en/kissimmee/discv/hoteldetail/photos-tours

any comments or help would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

Answer
There are lots of positive reviews on Trip Advisor here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34352-d120242-Reviews-Holiday_Inn_Club_Vacations_Orlando_Orange_Lake_Resort-Kissimmee_Florida.html

Note that this is the type of place that gives you a high pressure timeshare condo sales-pitch. Despite that, it has many excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. You can read them and see pictures taken by travelers. There are a few negative reviews, but you'll always see complainers, no matter how good the hotel is.

You're going to have an adult with you, right? Hotels don't let minors check in without an adult, even if you have your own credit card and it's all prepaid.

Have fun!!

I have just purchased a trailer mounted industrial pressure washer, do I need a tag/plate?

jmf

We are in the state of Florida, in Orlando, the total weight is under 5,000lbs, we have been given a title for the equipment and a vin number but have not been informed as to weather we need to tag it or not. It is quite large and does cover the plate on our vehicle, if this makes any difference. Also should we insure it through our car insurance or just on the business insurance?

The highway patrol will tell you on the phone. Call them up. They're bored. They will love to give out correct advice.
