Pressure washer overheating?

Q. I have a Troy-Bilt pressure washer with a Briggs & Stratton 675 series 190cc engine. After about 10-15 minutes of use, it starts to smell funny like its overheating (and I feel an excessive amout of heat radiating off the engine), and its starts running weird, like its low on fuel. I don't how the engines are cooled on these, I imagine they are similar to a lawn mower? What can I do to resolve this, or what should I check for clogs, leaks, etc.? Thanks

Answer
It could be doing this as the filter is blocked up and pushing muck through but can't get any water through hence burning the motor out, which causes over heating. Or parts of your pressure washer could have melted due to running longer hours than it is designed to.
Hope this helps as I have had similar problems in the past.

my pressure washer the bottom ot the briggs and stratton motor lost four bolts and now water gushes out?

i can not screw the bolts back in. how can this be fixed

Answer
In all probability you need a new pump. Pump head bolts typically stay put. The fact they are out and do not want to go back in is a red flag to any experienced repairman.Something bad happened to get to this point

The head bolts might be broken

remove all other bolts holding head to pump ( there should be four more)

remove pump head from pump.

inspect bolts stripped or broken

If they are stripped you need a new pump. With the pressure a unit produces and half of them damaged it will be nearly impossible to fix. You can try with helicoils but I would not ever attempt it with half the bolts damaged

If they are broken remove bolts from pump. Get a new packing kit for for pump head and eight new head bolts. Install using locktite

Other things that could be wrong

look at pump pistons are the broken or scored? is so they need to be replaced

shake pistons is there play? if there is play the rods on your crankshaft are loose or broken

Sometimes it is cheaper to get a new pump. You can keep your old one for parts

Best answer I can provide with above information
