Pressure Washer PSI question?

Q. Ok I know they sell machines that shoot out 7-8 gmp through 2 hoses (3.5 - 4 gmp each) at 4k psi each... what i want to know is if i buy a machine made originally for 1 hose at 7-8 gmp and 4k psi and make a quick connection and turned it into 2 hoses would the pressure remain 4k for both hoses or would it drop?

Answer
The pressure would remain the same until one or both nozzles were opened. Because of pressure loss through the T and fittings, nozzle pressure with only only one open would be slightly less than originally. With both nozzles open the nozzle pressure would drop dramatically

Is pressure washing a car safe?

So this is the first time I'm considering washing my car with a pressure washer. For some reason it seems like overkill to use such a powerful method to wash the car because...I've seen my dad use it to remove old paint off wood. I want to know if using a pressure washer will remove the paint off the car. Thanks.
Thanks so much for the answers!

Answer
I use a 3600 PSI Pressure Washer with a 15 degree nozzle/tip on all of my personal vehicles including two that have expensive custom paint jobs.

If your car's paint in intact it is not going to harm the paint at all as long as you use a 5 degree of better tip on the gun.

If would not try the 0 degree tip at any pressure.

0 degrees is the one thin stream of water, when the water is not fanning out at all.

Also watch out for vinyl graphics, pin stripes, dealer stickers, as it will remove them, but will not harm a normal paint job in good condition.

Stand back from the car a few feet and spray away.

Most pressure washers, up to 1800 psi are made specifically for cars.

What I use is indeed excessive, but only mentioned to prove to you that it will not harm the paint.

So,

1.) Make sure the water coming out of the gun has a fan to it and not just one straight stream.

2.) Stay clear of vinyl graphics, pin stripes and dealer stickers unless you are back at least 6 feet.

3.) If this is the first time that you are using a pressure washer on a vehicle, I would make sure it is no more than 1800 psi until you get used to it.

4.) Do not hold the tip of the gun right up to the paint ... stand back a few feet.

Do that and you will be fine.
