Pressure Washer Problems?

Metisse

I have a Husky (gas) 2600 psi HU807720. It was working fine and then the next day I went to use it again and as soon as I turned it on, I had pressure for about 10 seconds then it went off and the Thermal Release Valve starts spraying out water and that was the end of pressure washing. What does this mean? I cannot locate a repair manual online and my basic owners manual is worthless. I am getting proper pressure from the faucet, the motor runs and initially the pressure loads. I talked my husband into letting me take off all of the little valves that we could locate but noting was blocked. I have thought it could be the pump but it does get pressure for a few seconds. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated?

Answer
Take the tip of the sprayer off and run it that way to see if you get a steady stream with the trigger pulled when starting it up. Release the trigger and then try again to see if the same stream comes out. If when you release the trigger and pull again and no pressure the relief valve is bad or something is stuck in it. Other issue is the nozzle was clogged and blow back into it. If the steam stays good while cycling the trigger you had something stuck in the hose that was clogging the nozzle.

how to unclog main drain with pressure washer?

Answer
You can build or buy a sewer jetter attachment for your pressure washer for less than $150. A sewer jetter is a thin, high-pressure hose with a jet nozzle that pulls the hose into the drain and breaks up the clog. With a sewer jetter you typically start from the main drain cleanout outside your home or in your basement, or from a drain opening such as an inlet under a sink that's upstream of the clog. Search online for "build or buy a pressure washer sewer jetter."
