Answer
pressure washers require a minimum Volume of water (gallons per minute) your hose bib may be bad preventing enough water flow. some hoses have a screened washer inside them, when they clog, water is low flow. also are you on a well or domestic water? could be your system pressure is just low. finally some systems have a pressure reducing valve on them because the domestic pressure is really high. that unit may be bad or set too low.

Pressure washer won't always shoot at full pressure right away.?

Dave S

We have a Karcher 2400psi, (5HP Honda engine) pressure washer. When we press the trigger it doesn't always shoot full power...the engine tends to try to rev over and over somewhat like it's idling. Sometimes it will shoot full pressure as soon as the trigger is pressed, other times it can take between 10 seconds and 1 minute to get it going. Once it does shoot water out at full pressure thought the engine will rev up at a higher steady speed which seems normal.

We have had this issue since day 1 and it's really starting to annoy us.
The pressure on the mains of our house is more than enough so we think it might be the valve on the trigger.

Any ideas on what's happening here?
Any suggestions on fixes?

Answer
A pressure washer requires a constant supply of water to operate at a steady volume and pressure. Until all air trapped in the pump and hose supplying water to the pressure washer has been purged the engines RPM will go up and down as air passes through the pump. After attaching hoses and turning on water, hold trigger on wand until no more air comes from wand, then start engine.
