Pressure Washer float tank?

tsb1973

I have a direct drive pressure washer, if the tank is full it runs fine, but if the water level drops even a bit it starts to pulsate. Can I bypass the float tank and hook up the municipal water direct to the inlet?

Answer
you probably could bypass but tank is there to allow for addition of cleaning chemicals or detergent you would lose that option you may have debris or something in tank or suction line when pump runs it draws gunkinto lines and plugs or partilly blocks flow try thourougly cleaning system before you bypass

why is my water tank not feeding my pressure washer?

Answer
are you sure the line isnt airlocked? also you need to consider the height and water level in the tank as this will affect the gravity feed. Check the diameter of the feed pipe as the washer will need a certain water flow to function properly. Pressure washers DO NOT suck water in, they must be supplied with the correct flow rate, i suggest using a clear hose as a feed pipe as then you can visually check for air leaks and water flow
